It started when my dad and I thought it would be fun to work together…

I was in Australia riding out COVID quarantine and started my “hours”.

When we returned home I scheduled the test…I was cocky…I failed!

Time to study…so many practice tests, guilt, advice from dad…lets do it!

We drove to Everett and I drop Will off at a restaurant and make my way to the testing center. I am “prepared”…I miss it by 1…BY 1! I’m crying as I head back to Will. He is so proud and supportive. “Next time” he says.

I am so defeated…”what now?”. Back at it…”let’s buy all the study guides, practice tests and all the things”, my husband says!

Then life gets REALLY hard…I have scheduled my 3rd attempt…I show up in my youngest son’s hot rod…covered in pet hair…basically in pajamas…to find out there is a glitch and I’m not scheduled to take the test…I reschedule.

The next day I arrive at a flight school in Mason County…I fail…by 1…AGAIN!!! I then rethink it and wonder if learning to fly is easier…lol

I’m DONE!!!

A few weeks pass and I decide to try again and something/someone is pushing me. I am sure I failed again as I wait for my results with a gal who thinks she also failed…cuz “none of the questions are familiar”…I can TOTALLY relate. We get our results at the same time…”congrats ladies!”…we hug and cry and say goodbye.

I try and pretend to be sad as Will picks me up…but soon after I do a happy dance cuz I can’t help it…I DID IT!

I call him…my mentor, my biggest supporter, my dad. I haven’t called enough. I have taken him for granted. I tell him I “passed the test”. He acts confused…then says “I didn’t know you were taking it again!”

For the next couple weeks, he advised me, pushed me and we planned to be a team…and then he unexpectedly passes away.

I don’t want to do this anymore. But then we receive cards, flowers, emails, notes from family, friends and neighbors…all the stuff and things.

He wants me to keep going…

Mom tells me...”it doesn’t matter if you get a deal…he was just proud you kept trying and passed”.

Dad, this is your Daughter…just letting you know…I’m ok!

We are celebrating Cynthia! She has worked for us for the past 19 years – and while it’s safe to say we know her well, we thought you may want to know a bit more about her too...

✳How long have you lived in Anacortes?
My father was born and raised in Anacortes. I lived here for a few years as a child and then moved back in 1989. I have a large family, 7 siblings, so it was a great place to raise my daughter, surrounded by grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.

✳What do you love about being a realtor?
I love the personal interactions, many clients have become friends. I also like guiding Buyers to finding just the right home and working with Sellers to get highest and best for their properties. In both scenarios, I work to make it as stress free as possible.

✳Why do you work at Windermere?
Windermere is #1 in terms of professionalism, knowledge of the everchanging market and agent support. It's a highly respected company for all of those reasons. I'm proud to be a part of the team!

✳What’s your favorite spot to eat, or play?”
I love to work in the garden or hike the City Forestlands. To reward myself, it’s great to hang out on the waterfront deck at Secret Cove, enjoying the gorgeous view, delicious food and cocktails. I try to visit Mexico at least once a year and also enjoy my timeshare in Chelan

✳Tell us more! Is there anything more you want to add?
I am a Soroptimist member, which is a global volunteer organization. I work at our fabulous thrift shop in town. With the sales profits, we are able to give about $100,000 a year in scholarships. I have also driven for Simple Gesture, which gathers food from the community to stock the food bank at the Salvation Army. I believe it's important to be of service to my community.

Great photo!!! Come on spring 💐🌷
