While the snow has stopped falling, snow, slush and ice left on the ground will refreeze with Extreme Cold tonight. Follow for updates and check road conditions at drivetexas.org. Dress appropriately and limit time outdoors!

01/21/2025

Heavy snow & icy conditions are expecting tonight into Tuesday with dangerous travel continuing through Wednesday morning. If you must travel, be prepared for road closures, and the possibility of being stranded (so stock your vehicle with water, food, and warm clothing).

9PM WINTER STORM UPDATE:
It is really coming down now in parts of Southeast Texas! Still mainly light sleet over Houston, but the snowflakes are getting bigger north and west of the city. Our reporter Jessica Willey is stationed in Conroe, and she reports it is starting to accumulate up in Conroe. It should really start cranking over Houston by midnight and beyond, and that's when roadways over H-town will become more treacherous as the freeze line migrates through the city. 13 Alert Radar is in snow mode, and you can see what's happening in your county here: abc13.com/13alertradar

Dear Friends,

As the arctic blast approaches southeast Texas, I want to personally remind everyone to take every precaution to stay safe. Freezing temperatures in the low to mid-20s and possible wintry precipitation are expected soon, so please:

* Wrap your pipes and protect your plants.
* Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
* Stock up on food, water, and medications.
* Travel tonight and for the rest of this week could be hazardous and is strongly discouraged until snow and ice melt from the roadways. Please prioritize safety and only travel if absolutely necessary.

At Above and Beyond Caring, the safety of our families, participants, and community is always our priority. That’s why the Community Inclusion Program will be CLOSED on Tuesday and Wednesday to ensure everyone stays safe during these hazardous conditions.

We look forward to seeing everyone back soon once it’s safe. Please stay warm, take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and let’s look out for one another during this time.

Take care,
Mary
