Mistakes to avoid when planning your next Caribbean vacation.
☀️Thinking all islands are the same
Every island is unique, and just because you've seen one doesn't mean you've seen them all and there's nothing left to explore. To assume that would mean missing out on so much! What you'll experience in Jamaica or the Dominican Republic is completely different than what you'd experience in Grenada or Dominica.
🏨 Staying at only big all-inclusive hotels
Bigger and more well-known hotel chains are only the start. There are so many great, lesser-known properties, boutique hotels, and villas. Depending on the type of trip you're envisioning, these may be good options too.
🏖️ Not exploring beyond the resort
You're missing out on so many great cultural expereinces, delicious local food, and the opportunity to try new things if you're only sticking to the resort. There are lots of ways to explore — self-guided tours, group tours and private tours and experiences.
🗓️ Only visiting in high season
Just because a certain period is a "good" time to visit a place doesn't always mean it's the "best" time for you. You can't go wrong visting the Caribbean in high season (January to May). But the off-season means better offers and less crowds.
❌ Not understanding the local nuances
Not every Caribbean island has the same currency, not all islands have English as their first language, and depending on where you're visiting, you may have more or less access to things like ATMs, banks, etc. You want to do your research (Or ask your travel advisor!) to make sure you're prepared.
