We went to the river to get the cabin ready for our next guest! Put out a door hanger and some new decor. I love to share goodies our guests leave for us. Recent guests left some cracker barrel syrup, a sweet potato. Bubbles for the kids, a smashed souvenir penny from the Space & Rocket Center. One guest wrote a children's picture book and autographed and left a copy in our book corner! We appreciate all the love shared with us.

WALKER COUNTY LAKE CATFISH TOURNAMENT ANGLERS CRYING FOUL AFTER 70 YEAR OLD WOMAN WINS TOURNAMENT WITH A CANE POLE AND A ZIPLOCK BAG FULL OF GRAVY TRAIN

JASPER - Participants in the annual Walker County Lake Catfish Tournament are crying foul tonight after a 70 year old Jasper woman bested the next closest competitor by 12 lbs while using nothing but a cane pole, and Gravy Train dog food as bait.

One competitor with whom we spoke had this to say, "I have the very best catfishing equipment that money can buy, the best boat, the best rods, the best electronics. There ain't no way that old lady beat me with a stick and some dog food, no way. Something smells fishy here, and it ain't my stinkbait."

Others say that it is not unusual for "Ms. Minnie" as she is lovingly called by lake patrons to weigh in her limit at least five days a week.

"Ms. Minnie sure can catch 'em. She always leaves the lake with enough catfish, and shellcrackers to feed five people. Ms. Minnie wouldn't cheat, those men just ain't as good at fishing as they think they are."

I had used my sons phone when I set up a new account with Airbnb because I couldn't remember the sign in info for the one I originally had. I was just looking at his phone and saw that you had messaged him, he's 11 and never told me about the messages. I just wanted to tell you how much we all loved that vintage cottage on the lake. What a beautiful way to honor your daughter🥰 I wanted to stay longer but my parents had to get back here for obligations they had. I'm 48 and acted like a little brat and even cried when we had to go. Magge's happy place is now my happy place too. Thank you so much! I'm sending pics of fish we caught, I apologize that we are in all of them. Thanks again, we had an amazing time!

Our last family left us some treasures. We have some Interesting rocks, shells, fishing hooks, lures, coins, and wine corks. This family also lost a floaty, it appears. Looks like they had a great time!

Our most recent guests left a wonderful review! They also mentioned they caught a 40 pound Blue Catfish from the dock! The second picture is not the real fish. I have not received that photo yet. I googled 40 lb blue catfish, and actually there are several photos. I wanted a picture to show my grandsons! 😍🥰

I looked everywhere for "fishing" themed tree ornaments. I only found thos fish, and it was the last one! If you çome to stay with us this year, bring an ornament for our next tree! The tree and accessories we have now came with the house. If you leave us an ornament after your stay, we will post a photo on Facebook. If enough people share with us, we will have a vote for the best ornament!
