Marriott bringing back the hot breakfast buffet at select-service hotels

Marriott International will reintroduce hot breakfast buffets at some U.S. select-service brands in October and more widely roll it out during the winter.

Marriott in October will offer at a "select number" of Fairfield, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites properties hot breakfast bars with items such as breakfast sandwiches, spinach-and-cheese crustless quiche and a jalapeno-cheddar baked soufflé.

The company throughout the winter will roll out the new breakfast offering to each of the nearly 3,000 properties of the four brands in the U.S., according to Marriott.

Marriott said it conducted a survey of about 800 travelers in the U.S. and Canada and found 75% of respondents indicated a preference for a hot breakfast buffet over a continental breakfast.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has mandated that U.S. travelers be REAL ID-compliant by May 3, 2023 to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities. That deadline may seem far away. However, as a travel advisor, part of your role and ethical obligation is to anticipate your clients’ travel needs and requirements, such as passports, vaccinations, and so on. The REAL ID is one of those requirements.
Take the time now to understand what the REAL ID is and educate your clients on the requirements. This is just one more way you can showcase your value to your clients. One idea is to schedule a Zoom night or record a video for your clients that explains which documents clients must gather and where they should go to apply for a REAL ID card.
