If you want to use Instagram for your business and grow your real followers you need to set SMART goals and have a strategy in place.

The first part of an IG strategy is to know your target audience:
❓Who are the people to whom your posts are aimed at?
❓Who are the people that already buy from you?
❓Do you check the insights on all your social media channels to find out who follows you?

When setting goals for your business on IG make sure your goals are SMART – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. This will help you with:
✅Awareness of your business and brand
engagement with what you post (which you can measure by the number of likes, comments, and shares.)
✅Conversion – how many people click on the link to your website, follow your CTAs (calls to action), click on your blog posts or your online shop, or subscribe to your email newsletter. This also covers any people who respond by clicking on your paid ads if you use them.
✅The action that customers take, such as buying your products or services, repeat customers, retention of existing customers, recommendations, etc.

Wanna know a fun fact about The Small Business Plug? 🙃

I have been running my business from another country since February, 2022. I've had the privilege of traveling to different cities and states all over Mexico, indulging in the culture, eating authentic food and making international connections with wonderful people from all over the world. 🌎

All while servicing my current clients, onboarding new clients, and adding contacts and skillsets to my business portfolio. 🔌

Although this has been a life changing experience, it didn't come without challenges. 🥴

I encountered so many issues ranging from sketchy internet service in some cities making it hard for me to create and post content to having my credit card information compromised, lost and stolen mail and even food poisoning! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Being in and out of airports and traveling oftentimes made it difficult for me to keep up with calls and consultations due to being on different time zones, delayed or canceled flights, covid scares, etc. ✈️

Through it all, I was still diligent in handling my business and resilient enough to push through. 💪🏽

In life, you don't get to experience the good without the bad and I wouldn't trade my time working and traveling for anything in this world. 🤟🏽

When you post to social media for your business are you using relevant hashtags? Did you know that using the right hashtags is one of the most effective ways to get more eyes on your Instagram posts in 2022?

Here are a few tips to help you choose the best hashtags for your business and expand your reach:

📌When deciding which hashtags you should use, aim for hashtags with between 10K-200K posts.

📌IG has confirmed that hashtags are effective in both your post caption and the comments section – so it’s totally up to you where you want to share them.

📌Adding 20-30 hashtags to your IG posts is the best way to increase your reach and engagement rates.

📌If you're new at this and not sure which hashtags are the best to use, keep in mind that there are different types of hashtags you can include. (Refer to my previous post on hashtags). This will help make sure you’re covering all the bases with your hashtag strategy.

Instagram recently announced that hashtags are now being used as keywords for SEO. 🥳

So how do you find the best hashtags for your account and what exactly does this mean for business owners?

The words in your captions and the hashtags you use will become searchable and hashtags will be used to label and categorize your content.

Basically, hashtags are keywords for SEO and using the right ones can help your business show up in search engines. People can also find you on hashtag pages and the IG Explore page.

IG's new "search" feature allows people to type ANYTHING in the Instagram search bar so always use hashtags that make sense for your business.

The 5 best categories to use for hashtags include:
1. Location
2. Branded hashtags for campaigns or events
3. Industry hashtags that describe your niche
4. Community-focused hashtags to bring your community together
5. Descriptive hashtags that describe the content of your actual post
