Vanessa Vinci believes in simplicity and the freedom it brings to life. As she sees it, simplicity results in efficiency and ease, and that leaves more time for fun. This life idea is the basis for her dress designs. Fabrics that travel well and styles that morph into different looks keep suitcases light and make dressing a quick and festive event. Vanessa’s “just accessorize and go” attitude enco
urages women to look fabulous without the fuss, and her dresses enable them to do so. Vanessa’s first creations were the tiniest of dresses. “When I was a very young girl I made clothes for my Barbie Dolls. I didn’t know how to sew and instead got really creative with wrapping, tucking and tacking,” she remembers. High school brought a new opportunity: home economics. “I went crazy sewing outfits in class! I made all sorts of things I considered “high fashion,” including my prom dresses. It was the 80’s in Rhode Island, so everything was big, big, big – hair, ruffle skirts a great time to explore different styles, as odd as they may have been.”
Fashion had grabbed her and wouldn’t let go. For the next decade, Vanessa trained and worked as a hairstylist, make-up artist, and wardrobe consultant in Rhode Island, Boston, and South Florida. Throughout this time she continued to be in love with clothing design and felt strongly about the merits of a four-year degree. In pursuit of both, Vanessa enrolled in American Intercontinental University and in 2005 graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design. Following graduation, Vanessa was surprised by the job market in Atlanta, GA, her home base since 2003. “I couldn’t find a position that matched with my personal and professional goals,” she explains, “so I created my own perfect job.” With that, Vanessa Vinci Designs was born, allowing production of feminine, flattering, and sometimes flirty clothes that realized Vanessa’s vision of “taking one dress and wearing it 100 different ways.”
As versatile as her designs, Vanessa is as much at home designing in her studio as she is weight training in the gym, cooking in the kitchen, golfing on the green, or hosting a magnificent party. She keeps it simple, which results in efficiency and ease, leaving more time for fun. That’s Vanessa Vinci Designs, and that’s Vanessa Vinci. The inspiration for her line is to give women of all ages a sexy, affordable and high quality dress with a timeless look that will transition from day to evening. Her use of high quality stretch knit fabrics create elegant, chic and comfortable designs that are characterized by their ease of wear and care.
