ATL area friends! Wanna get involved in an important, impactful Indie film by top filmmakers (not me this time: friends/colleagues) by helping out with a truck loan this weekend? "We are looking for 2 old (80s, 90s, early 2000s) pickup trucks, 1 of them preferably a king cab. King for both Sat./Sun., other for just Sat. Nothing fixed up - rust, cops, dents, dull are what we’re after. But do want good brakes: King will have a little driving and the other just pulls into a driveway so very little mileage. Looking for donations but planning to give gas cards." If anyone’s interested/able, message me (Sheri) asap and I 'll put you in touch with producer. It takes a village! Thanks!

In honor of Pride Month, I want to honor a theater pro, an early GLBTQIA+ legend, with whom I had the honor of working long ago (1982ish?) in Hollywood/West Hollywood. I knew him as Smitty. He was John "Smitty" Smith (RIP) and he had founded and ran Deja Vu Coffeehouse and Fifth Estate. Way back then, having graduated from college at age 19, I thought of myself as an ally as I performed a lead role in a comedic play called "Fag Hags" for enthusiastic GLBT audiences. I succeeded in breaking my own boundaries of on-stage (partial) nudity and same-gender physicality and it was pure joy. Smitty himself was a groundbreaking pioneer. Sadly, I feel his name has been forgotten in some more recent summaries of GLBTQ+ history in Hollywood/L.A. theater. I hope my friends who live there might help spread his name/contributions as they are able. With the film in which I star, "Nana Dara is Gay", after screenings in Cannes and around the US (another coming up in ATL this month!) and awards won, and with my new position on SAG-AFTRA ATL's Diversity Committee and other work I've done in the GLBTQIO+ community in ATL and NYC thru the years and awards of which I'm so proud from ATL Pride Committee ("Community Builder") and GAPHR ("Outstanding Contribution Award"), I like to think Smitty is somewhere feeling proud that he recognized something in me before I even did. Thank you for your service, Smitty. You are lovingly remembered and valued. Happy Pride!

Yet another shout-out for with special thanks to Linda Burns - Producer - Plexus Pictures for her generosity... Kudos to the curator of today's block of shorts "Let's Try This" at The Plaza! Seriously one of the strongest blocks of shorts I've screened anywhere in all the years I've been screening (and making) them! The cherry on top was having 2 stunning young actors approach me in the lobby (recognizing me after who knows how many years)...They are brother and sister who remember studying with me at The Alliance Theatre long ago and "we learned SO much from you!" -- I had completely lost track of them and they both have successful pro careers, Joseph Wood lll https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm5643513/overview and Madeleine Wood, https://pro.imdb.com/name/nm9564128/, with Madeleine https://www.facebook.com/madeleine.wood.3 being one of the stars of the film that brought me and Tendal Mann out today when we saw that his co-star, from Terri J. Vaughn's film, was Executive Producer of it. While DC wasn't in attendance, it was fantastic to see Madeleine's outstanding work and to reunite with both her and her bro. What a powerful, important film, "Don't Wipe Your Tears" in a similar way to the film of which I'm Assoc. Producer, Chris Anthony Hamilton's "Missing While Black", now in post-prod, and similarities with the feature film I'm writing, with the support of mentor Jane Shepard via Ela Thier's https://theindependentfilmschool.com. What an amazing time to be part of the indie film community -- in my hometown of ! Thank you, Christopher Escobar!

Another great time at ATLFF screening friend Jenna Kanell's fantastic horror film, Faceless After Dark! Now, I'm seeing more in prep for acting in a horror film shooting this summer, Dayna Noffke's Eidolon!

I'm fond of the full length photo that Photography took of me on the red carpet! (there's also another one, but my hair needs some work, lol)...and Smart Glass Recycled Jewelry, Kathleen Plate -- I'm still loving wearing your work as I have for years -- this time, the seaglass ring and coca-cola bottle necklace (seemed appropros for the ATLANTA film fest), though wearing them at Cannes and Out On Film and various other fests last year for Nana Dara Is Gay, a few of the circles have gone their own way...just like me -- a little off-center!

If you turn on tonight (now til 9pm), Lisa is upcoming for the interview about her new book getting so much attention nationally, "Miles of Style: Eunice W. Johnson and the Ebony Fashion Fair". 'So proud that 2 folks I/we can actually call friends, Rev. Duncan Teague and Shuler Hensley, have been chosen by the AJC as everyday heroes 2023, and that I've met several others who are amongst the group. Duncan has been a friend and family friend for a couple decades. He graciously visited my mom in hospice and fulfilled her long-time wish that he sing Old Rugged Cross for her Celebration of Life at the Carter Center. Since he was already booked at another event that day, he generously videotaped himself singing (with accompaniment) and we played it for the gathered friends/family that day. He graciously appeared as a guest/interviewee on my Youtube pandemic "series", A Mom for All, https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=MEyunN4P7Ts . There are more chapters during which I felt his support, but I'll leave it here for now. Thank you, Duncan, for always being there, and thanks to the AJC for recognizing your lifetime of heroism. As for Shuler -- he was such a great support for son Royce when Royce played him as a boy in the Alliance Theater World Premiere of Stephen King's/John Mellencamp's Ghost Brothers of Darkland County and we enjoyed wonderful times at cast/crew events at his beautiful home with his beautiful family. Congrats to all the honorees!

RIP, : A kind, brilliant, generous man, from what we experienced. He was invited to come to for a few days to observe rehearsals for the world premiere of Stephen King's / 's musical " at , in which son Royce Mann for Atlanta Board of Education played a role (the younger version of Shuler Hensley's character). He was kind to Royce & it was a thrill for me to talk politics with him -- definitely a soulmate! With the great election result last night for the race in which we were very involved ( for ), I like to imagine it may be one of Norman's last nods before transitioning...Thanks to him for all his creative and political influence,
