A Texas family is jump-starting summer with a May trip to Germany and Italy, planned by team member Rachel . Rachel has this family on the move with this immersive itinerary:

I asked a client for feedback on her family's spring break to Costa Rica - and she invited me over for coffee to really get into the details.
The first week had mom and teen daughter at Witch's Rock surf camp in Tamarindo, with a second week with dad and son joining for classic beach vacation in the Guanacaste resort area.
Week 1 - Surf Camp
Witch's Rock was a great experience....so much that they booked again for next year! Surf school went well and the daughter made friends. Mom enjoyed Tamarindo and loved the yoga classes at .yoga
They had a rental car for the rest of their trip and were happy to have their own transportation.
Week 2 - Beach resort
The full family stayed at Punta Islita, an Autograph Collection Marriott property. This resort worked well for them. They loved the beach club, and all the macaws flying around. The resort is known for their eco-adventures...birding adventures, nature walks, canopy ziplines, sea turtle expeditions, tico cooking and more.
They shared that they caught a number of mahi-mahi, and the resort was able to cook it up for them.

Road trip in Ireland with three teenagers - here's what I put together for them to keep them active and perhaps learning a thing or two.....
They start in Dublin with rooms at the with its central location and classic Irish charm. They're looking forward to touring Kilmainham Gaol....an evocative experience into prison life and a pathway to explore Ireland's struggle for independence and political prisoners.
Off to the western coast for Cliffs of Moher, Galway, and Kylemore Abbey.
Finally up to Belfast...possibly via County Mayo which is where they have some family roots. In Northern Ireland they'll visit the Titanic experience and explore the Giant's Causeway and Gobbins Cliff Path.

I'm back from a week in Cuba as part of a familiarization / training trip for travel advisors. Cuba is an incredible experience. And a very different and strange place. You'll see the vintage cars, beautiful architecture, farming without machinery, and amazing mojitos. You'll also live without credit cards, limited wifi and much of the tech we take for granted. Travel to Cuba for tourist activities remains prohibited by U.S. statute. However, there are 12 categories of travel that are authorized, and Rosedale Travel is able to support client travel under the 'support for the Cuban people' category. There are rules. You'll need to stay in privately owned residences / boutique hotels, eat at privately owned restaurants, and have a full time schedule of activities that meets requirements (such as 'enhances contact with the Cuban people'). It's not for those without some flexibility. We stayed in beautiful places - but they were sometimes missing hand towels, and didn't have alternative milks with the coffee, or had steep stairs. I see Cuba as an educational trip for families with older teens (the exposure to a different life) or a guys' trip (cigars / rum / fishing). It would be wonderful for art lovers, or vintage American car lovers. I absolutely recommend a travel professional to help build the itinerary and help manage the logistics and paperwork. This week I'm walking through highlights and learnings from a luxury bike trip along the Danube river in Europe earlier this month. After a couple days in Prague, we met up with our @backroadstravel group, shuttled over to Germany and (gulp) got on our bikes. I am not a biker and could not be bothered with training which sounded like a great idea...until it was time to get on a bike. It was all fine. Backroads has a range of bikes and I went with the easy option: eBike! Highly recommend as you can dial in some boost, or use your own power as desired. The other people in the group were reasonably healthy but not weekend warriors by any stretch of the imagination. Backroads gives plenty of options to push hard or take it easy so most everyone can participate. It felt like a nice day of exercise without feeling like a boot camp class. We all had GPS devices that make it hard to leave the path. You could go off on your own, or stay with a buddy or two...you're not in a tight group at all. We biked for a couple of hours that first afternoon. About halfway through we came to a rest stop where Backroads had drinks and snacks for us to nibble on. (One nickname for Backroads is "Snackroads!") This week I'm taking you through my biking trip along the Danube river in Europe! This trip was a friend's milestone birthday celebration and brought five couples together. He is a huge fan of Backroads - a leader in active travel. On their trips, you're out biking (and maybe hiking / kayaking) during the day, but combined with upscale accommodations and meals. We started in Prague where we landed, recovered from jetlag, and explored the city. We stayed in the Mandarin Oriental Prague - a restored monastery in the heart of the city. When I was checking in, the person in front of me said...'oh...this is the place with the great breakfast.' And he was right. Santa Fe Girls Weekend was lovely! Here are a few highlights: * Stayed at Four Seasons at Rancho Encantado with beautiful and large casitas. We called them to light fires in the fireplace...decadent for Texans! * Private art tour of Canyon Rd was a highlight. Our guide was fantastic...we learned about the history of Canyon road and spent time in a range of galleries, from native american to modern. * We explored the hot tub environment at 10,000 Waves and loved our traditional Japanese dinner. * Many good meals, but have to call out Santacafe as a favorite.
