TANZANIA SAFARI RECAP – Day 8 to 9
Our last stop provided the R&R we needed. This full-service lodge stay started with a divine lunch and pool time overlooking game drinking from the below river. We were pampered with spa time, and personally some much needed gym time. We reverted to the finer comforts, staying in a lodge versus a tent for the first time in nights. Our highlight was trekking into the reserve to meet the Hadzabe tribe, a protected Tanzanian hunter-gatherer indigenous ethnic group. We watched them forage for wild honey while we were educated on their history and the importance of preserving their long-sustaining way of life. Our final night in the bush was capped off with a sundowner on massive boulders, curled up by the fire as we prepared our farewell to Tanzania.

Lodge: at Mwiba Lodge
Location: Mwiba Wildlife Reserve on the Arugusinyai River, located within a wildlife reserve adjoining the southern Serengeti.
Game: Buffalo, giraffe, and more (but limited game view this season)
Conservation: Mwiba Wildlife Reserve

TANZANIA SAFARI RECAP – Day 6 to 7
Here is when it got wild. Like lions roaming between our tents at night - wild. Waking to their tracks in the mud and evidence of this wildebeest kill nearby. Mila Tented camp was the perfect blend of luxury camping, immersed in the wilderness. You woke in the morning to a soft sent of your hot water tank fire burning. You drink sundowners in the evening around fire pits, watching the rain fall miles away. The game drives were active (lions mating might be the wildest thing ever – every 15 minutes like clockwork). Here we added crocodiles and more baby animals to our list too. Our last game drive was more than 7 hours out in the Serengeti, but it was a closing drive to our busiest animal showcase.

Lodge: at Mila Tent
Location: Nyasirori, in the western corridor of the Serengeti
Game: Lion, crocodiles, hippo, elephant, monkey, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah, hyenas, and more…
Conservation: Serengeti National Park is a World Heritage Site. This world-renowned natural landscape harbors the largest remaining unaltered animal migration in the world, where over six million sets of hooves pound the open plains, as hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles join the wildebeest in a 1,000 km long annual circular trek for fresh grazing.

TANZANIA ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHT
Every destination I book, I ensure my partners can elevate any experience. I personally enjoyed this bonus on safari. While based at Chem Chem, we were perfectly placed for a helicopter adventure to the Ol Doinyo Lengai, currently erupting carbonatite lava, some of the strangest stuff you will ever see. Known to the local Maasai people as the “Mountain of God”, it is the only volcano erupting this black lava (waaaay more technical than I can get into here, just google it). But before we even landed on this active volcano (and decided to trek the steep climb to peak inside) we had the most stunning heli ride. We started on the flat, dry terrain of Chem Chem and slowly elevated to the mountainous caverns and lush green landscapes. We even flew over Empakaai Crater which was flocked with numerous bright pink flamingos. This crater formed lake is only visible by air and is untouched.

TANZANIA SAFARI RECAP – Day 4 to 5
Transitioning away from what I considered a traditional African safari terrain, we visited the drier vegetation of the Chem Chem Concession. We dove deeper into the Tanzanian culture and conservation with morning jogs with the Maasai, learning about the re-establishment of the ancient Kwakuchinja migrational corridor (elephants returning to Lake Manyara after an absence of nearly 40 years), getting up close and personal with the largest Elephants seen on the trip, and capped it all of with a helicopter ride to the top of Ol Doinyo Lengai (active volcano – more on this later) where we also spotted the largest flock of pink flamingos, safely protected in Empakaai Crater (only accessible by air). At Chem Chem, we enjoyed the most incredible sundowners and culinary adventures of the trip, like drinking sundowners at a waterhole with elephants and a bush dining under a Baobab trees.

Lodge: – Forest Chem Chem
Location: Chem Chem Concession, between Tarangire and Lake Manyara
Game: Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, monkey, ape, and more…
Conservation: Chem Chem Concession. 20,000 hectares (50,000 acres) of unfenced wilderness connecting the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks.

My first time in a hot air balloon and it happened on my first full day on safari in the Grumeti Game Reserve! While heights can make me a little anxious, this was the most peaceful experience. All 12 of us, plus the balloon operator, went up together. We saw ostriches, wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, and more. Once back on the ground, we made a champagne toast.
DYK: Champagne toast after hot air balloon is ritual from the first flight. The practice of drinking champagne after a balloon flight comes from the French. Villagers were initially frightened by the large, colorful vessels and farmers could become angry if a balloon landed in their fields. Champagne was introduced to pacify these observers and the tradition is continued today.

TANZANIA SAFARI RECAP – Day 1 to 3
This adventure started strong, as our first few days were spent seeing endless game on safari drives, a hot air balloon ride, a casual jog with armed guards for safety, multiple visits to the various Singita accommodation options (tented camps, lodges, etc.), amazing food, delicious sundowners, learning the basics of safari drives, and the importance of conservation efforts. The Singita brand is known for excellence, and they delivered at every turn.

Lodge: - Sasakwa Lodge
Location: Grumeti Game Reserve, NW border Serengeti National Park
Game: Lion, hippo, leopard, elephant, buffalo, monkey, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, cheetah, and more…
Conservation: Grumeti Game Reserve. The , a not-for-profit organization, was granted the right to manage and conserve these 350,000 acres, for the benefit of Tanzania.

Packing Tips for carry-on-only travelers: I just got settled from 8 nights on the road (well ✈️ I guess) and I made more than one head turn as I headed from a 4-night conference in Miami to a 4-night FAM in St Barth, visiting our luxury hotel partners on island. How did I do it? Here are a few tips if you are tired of checking luggage.
1. The right luggage. I have the large carryon and a duffel. I don’t use packing cubes to get all clothing on one side of away, to compress with the built-in board. The opposite side is for shoes and multiple small toiletry bags (dump the one large one for 2-3 airline approved pouches) with smaller clothing items shoved between. Overflow goes in the duffel like computer, more clothing, toiletries, or maybe even a pair of shoes. As you see below, I still had a ton of stuff!
I don’t use a purse when I fly, but bring a small bag and collapsible backpack (also ).

ATTN: Italy Travelers

We feel it necessary to update you on the challenging situation we are all facing in Italy this summer.

Italy has never been this busy and (over)crowded, resulting in challenges for all of us in maintaining our high standards of service and timeliness. With thousands of travelers, drivers and guides circulating in Rome for example, even clients with timed entries are having to wait to get into monuments; because of hundreds of private chauffeurs on the roads in the historic centers and multiple street closures due to events pickups are sometimes happening a few minutes after their scheduled time.

There are fashion shows, concerts and conventions in Rome and Florence in June that will result in a shortage of taxis, drivers, and guides.

Solution: Travelers will benefit from being prepared and patience, to understand what they will be facing in Italy this summer. Please try to be fluid and kind, in the event of obstacles. These memories will last a lifetime, so make to most of it!

Active client feedback from Spring break in Egypt. Only have a week off, we can make it happen!
“As I write this, I am sitting on our balcony at the Mena House enjoying the view of the Pyramids. I am reflecting upon our past week in Egypt and am incredibly grateful to you for making this possible. You and the local team in Egypt have given our family an experience of a lifetime. As we cruised along the Nile River, we traveled back in time as we visited historic temples and sites, including a private viewing of King Tut’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings. We were immersed in local culture and ate exquisite Egyptian cuisine. While in Cairo, we experienced the majesty of the Pyramids, which can never truly be captured by photos. I can already see the impact of this trip on our entire family. Our eyes and hearts are open to a whole new world. Your beautifully curated itinerary allowed us to fully experience the splendor of Egypt.
Thank you!!”

Oh, oh. Is it almost March? Coming up for social media air, after what is always a whirlwind start to the year. As many of you know, we are seeing more unprecedented demand for travel in 2023, so my favorite advice is still true. BOOK EARLY!
✨Best practice - schedule your kick-off call with me a year out for your 2024 travel plans! ✨

What are we working on now?
✔️Cleaning up spring - summer itineraries
✔️Booking Fall through 2024 travel
✔️Organizing recaps on all our clients who traveled over the holidays and through Mardi Gras/President's weekend - So please share your recent photos if you want to be featured!

I love that so many of you are eager to travel this summer, and we will do our best to advise you, but smart options for high-demand European destinations are very difficult as we quickly approach summer. Happy to share some alternative options, when possible.

Whoa! 2022 was a resurgence of travel, so much I can't believe it all happened this year. While the industry has seen incredible ups and downs as we regained our footing as an industry, I am most thankful for all the amazing memories and adventures shared. Thank you to my incredible clients for trusting me with their adventures and for helping me grow. Special thanks to my supportive suppliers and trusted hotel partners for keeping my clients well looked after (and maybe a little too spoiled). Most of all, thank you to and HQ team for being the strength of my foundation.

As I look towards 2023, I am thrilled to reintroduce my growing team! Lafayette based .mosing.travel and Atlanta based .good.travel joined my team this year and will continue to work closely with our growing client base.

Speaking of growth, let’s look at the numbers. For the year of 2022 I have over 2.6M in travel revenue generated (2.2M+ has already actualized and this is up from 1M+ in 2021). Total created travel revenue in 2022 was an impressive 3.3M+ (up from 1.7M+ in 2021), meaning 2023 is already off to a busy start! Lastly, I was also awarded as a top 20 advisor by , which is an honor!

Cheers to 2023 and beyond (because yes we are also actively working 2024 bookings too).
