Homestead has just the free event for you.
To kick off Labor Day weekend, we will be hosting the Living History Extravaganza on Saturday, August 31 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This will be at the Heritage Center both outdoors and within the museum space.
We have a plethora of living history activities. They are available for all ages to enjoy such as butter churning, clothes washing, and button toy and cornhusk doll making. There will also be a musical station for visitors to interact with!
Local demonstrators from all over the area will be here to show you various pastimes and practices of the homesteading era. This was a 123-year span of hard work and complex stories that transformed how we conduct our daily lives today.
Come out to Homestead National Historical Park, make some butter, and check out our apple trees!

Take a trip back in time on this with to the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Centre, Wymore, Nebraska to visit the Welsh Museum and One Room Schoolhouse or head over to Blue Springs to visit the Johnson Cabin Museum and see how early settlers lived.
