FAQ Friday! “Are you always here?” The answer is, most of the time. There have been Saturdays that thunderstorms made me pull the covers back up (water and soap aren’t a good combo UNTIL you get them home!) otherwise, there’s the odd Saturday that I might be out-of-town. Like this Saturday - I will NOT be at the Beloit Farmers Market. I WILL be back the following Saturday Oct 5, and then gone again on the 12th, but back again in the 19th. 😵‍💫 So just two more Saturdays!! I’m still thinking about doing an day at the indoor market in November…
Looks like (at least) by the 19th, I’ll have Lemongrass, Groovy Patchouly, Eucalyptus Spa Bar, Coffee and Cloves, hoping for Infinity, besides what we’ve had. 😊

So who’s gone to the indoor Beloit Market (November-April)? I’m considering a day or three Nov/Dec, and possibly once or twice then until the regular Market starts again. But if my customers really don’t go there….
What do you think - have you gone? Would you go again?

FAQ Friday! “Do you have Sandalwood?” Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE sandalwood! However, a pound of Sandalwood essential oil, at todays prices (bulk essential oil prices do fluctuate for many reasons) goes for OVER $1,000 plus shipping. Doing some quick figuring, this would mean I’d probably need to charge close to $15 per bar (that’s pricing very conservatively). Keep in mind - this is for a wash-off product. Most of it will wind up down the drain. 😢
I haven’t had a failed batch in many many years, but adding close to $500 for an ingredient to my soap batch would make me very nervous. So - if you really want Sandalwood, I’d suggest finding a brave vendor and pay the price, accept a sandalwood fragrance oil (artificial but much cheaper) OR - message me about how you can get your own little bottle of pure, high quality sandalwood oil that you can inhale whenever you please. (Please note that any expensive oil like sandalwood, rose, frankincense etc, is often adulterated to cut costs - know your supplier!)

That said, will I see you at the Beloit Farmers Market tomorrow? It’ll be another gorgeous day! 🤗

Come get your Autumn Leaves and Whitetail Meadow bars before they’re gone - they’ve been crazy popular this season!

I really have looooooong-time customers!! 😂💕We’re down here at the Beloit Farmers Market ‘til 1:00!

FAQ Friday! “What’s in it?” Great question! We make natural vegan soap - meaning we use natural ingredients, and no animal products. We go through a LOT of skin-loving olive oil (more on this at a later date), and fill our bars with clays, herbs, spices, and great-smelling essential oils. Although our bars aren’t as brightly colored as some are, it’s because we don’t use synthetic dyes in our soap. We like natural, and so do our awesome customers! 🥰

Btw - I will have some Whitetail Meadow and Autumn Leaves today! 🍂

I’m often asked “Where’s your shop?” Well, Saturday mornings during the market season, my shop is in the middle of Grand Ave, across from Lucy's #7 Burger Bar, at the Beloit Farmers Market. My workroom is at my home in Beloit - so I’m local. Some have asked this for fear they’d get addicted to my soap and then not be able to get it off season (smart thinking). If this is you, we’ve got you covered! We’re also at Bushel & Peck's Local Market in Beloit, Van Laars Farm Market and Bake Shop in Rockford, and Olde Roots in Sharon. Plus you can always contact us directly, we have been known to meet up with soap orders, and we ship as well.
So please go ahead and get addicted 😂

“Do you make all these?” Is another question I get asked regularly. Yes. Yes I do. Which is why I never have everything in stock all at once. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ But I do my best. And I appreciate your patience. Well, most customers are patient… unless Patchouly is involved, then this a 50/50 chance that they’ll be patient. (Shhhh don’t tell them that someone bought the last bar last Saturday - more is on the way!)
Oh - and it’s about time - Autumn Leaves is on the drying rack! 🤗🍁🎉
See you tomorrow at the Beloit Farmers Market! Even if you don’t need any soap, stop and say hi - my bestie from England will be hanging out with me tomorrow! 🥰

Heading home from Chicago with a load of oils and lye - saved $260 in shipping, and got to help my dad with some yard work while we were down here. 😊. I do NOT miss Chicago traffic!!
Speaking of lye, another often asked question is - “is there lye in this?” In a properly made bar, the short answer is no. However, to make real soap, you must mix the caustic (lye) with the oils, the chemical reaction that takes place produces soap (and wonderful glycerin as well) - so you need lye to make soap, but there should NOT be any remaining in the final product. I carefully formulate our bars so that there’s plenty of extra skin-loving oils - which is why our soap is so mild. Not at all like the “lye” soap of yesteryear that’d take your skin off lol
See you tomorrow at the Beloit Farmers Market!

FAQ Friday!
I’m often asked - “Which is YOUR favorite?” And I’d have to say… it depends. Overall… I guess I’d have to say Sea Mist (love love the essential oil blend), and Oatmeal Spice (such a cozy comforting scent with a bit of scrubbiness), but I’m also drawn to Spruce Moose and Turtle Creek because of their evergreen scents (I LOVE the woods - and I was recently told that Spruce Moose smelled like Maine 😋) We always have multiple bars in our shower, so I’ll grab whatever feels good that day. 😊

What about YOU - do you have a favorite?

I’m often asked which soap is best for the face. Since all of our soaps are formulated to be mild, the answer is, whichever you prefer. Even the scrubby bars - we know of one customer that absolutely loves the Wash Your Caraway bar (contains sand) for her face. Typically though, I’d recommend the Olive You unscented, Lavender Sky, or Tea Tree. But I use whatever happens to be on the shower shelf at the time!

See you tomorrow at the Beloit Farmers Market! I will NOT be there the following Saturday the 10th.
