Jeff's Lettering

Jeff's Lettering We have been doing designs, lettering. signs and graphics since 1980. Early on we hand painted, pinstriped, and airbrushed.

As times changed we converted over to computer generated pressure sensitive adhesive back vinyl. (stickers/decals)

Although we don't hand letter any longer, we bring years of knowledge from those days to today's sign & lettering world. Our experience and attention to detail is what separates our work from many others in the sign industry today. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with th

e quality products and expert craftsmanship your project deserves. Jeff & Dara (sounds like Sara) Spradling

We haven't posted our updated job photos since October 2023, so here they are.

We REALLY need to do this more often. Great . . . yet another New Year's resolution to try to keep up with.😁

This is one of many (Jeff's Lettering) signs that have been around the shop for many years.😎

I'm posting it because yesterday, someone commented to me “if you started working a little earlier, you might get more done”. That comment was based on my hours stated on my voicemail message, 9am – 5pm.

Although sometimes, but not many “Til midnight or so” anymore. There are an awful lot of 3am – 5am starts though. I just generally don’t start answering the phone until 8 – 9 o’clock.

3am start this morning, with a long day in the forecast . . .🥱

p.s. we could also add all day Sunday pretty regularly.🙄

First, thank you to those that have reached out to Dara and I privately regarding my post Monday with positive vibes.🙂

Now a little vent, isn’t that what this social media thing is mostly about.😉

READ NO FARTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO READ SOME BITCHING.

Most days I start working anywhere from 3 - 6am and often finish my workday at 9 - 10pm. Sometimes earlier, sometimes later.

18-hour day yesterday, 4am – 10pm, all work except ½ hour for lunch and took my bride for a supper break. Back out in the shop at 3am this morning working.

Attached is a private message I received Monday (from a former disgruntled customer)

Sure, you can see me doing personal things sometimes in the middle of the day. Gotta do it sometimes.🙄

Yes, I drive my “old white car” for personal enjoyment sometimes, but OPEN YOUR EYES, it is lettered with my business name. I use it for work as well.

January of 2021, I mentioned in a post that I wanted to cut back on working crazy hours. Some people took that as I was retiring. I’ll say it again, I will be doing lettering until I am physically unable or a day or two after I die . . . I’m sure someone will still want me to get something done for them.😳

I mostly shrug off people’s comments, the people that matter know what’s up, but sometimes it feels good to vent.😀

Thank you, now back to work.🙂

NOTICE / ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to health issues, Jeff’s Lettering will mostly be operating as a one-person business from now on. Dara has been dealing with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) for several years now. This is a side effect of her cervical cancer treatment in 2013. It has advanced to the point that it has greatly affected the use of her legs.

Dara will still be helping me on a very limited basis as she focuses more on her future, as this will become more and more debilitating.

I, Jeff, have been in the lettering business for over 44 years and have a large customer base. I will continue to try to accommodate everyone as best I can. Just know that Dara has been a vital part of our production process and her inability to continue contributing to the level we are used to will influence the volume of work we can produce.

Bottom line, from this point forward we (our customers & myself) will have to better plan the workload and limit last minute lettering jobs.

Comments have been turned off for this post. This post is not about looking for sympathy, it’s to inform our customers that this has been, and will continue to alter our ability to maintain the workload that we normally deal with.

Thank you, Jeff and Dara

The Boone County Fair is one of our busiest times of the year. I often get asked "why is it that busy for you ?" . . . "don't they have all the signs they need by now ?"

The BC Fair and Fairgrounds are an ever evolving entity, always getting added to or upgraded.

So it goes with the signs as well. This original 4H sign (left) we lettered in 2007, 17 years ago. It was upgraded this year.

The hand painted Fair Parking sign pictured is still in service from some of the first signs we made for the BC Fair, 36 years ago.

I have also been asked how many signs we have made for the Fair / Fairgrounds. Not a clue . . . other than . . . a lot !
