The 6 Oldest Restaurants in Arkansas, Have You Been Any of Them?

All Bikers love to Ride and eat! When a new restaurant opens up we all have to try it... but when you find a restaurant that has been open for a long time that tells you something. It will tell you that the food is great and Motorcyclists love not just the food but they love the owner's and staff too.

How Old is The Oldest Restaurant in Arkansas?
There are four restaurants on the list that are over 100 years old. The oldest restaurant in the state is 115 years old and still going strong. Unfortunately, there were a few of the oldest restaurants in the state that closed in the past two years so it looks like COVID stopped their great run.

#6. Skyline Cafe in Mena Open Since 1920s
*Open for breakfast and lunch. But breakfast is what all the gossip is about!

#5 Myrtie Mae’s, Eureka Springs, Open Since 1920s
*Located in beautiful downtown Eureka Springs and this one right here serves up great homestyle food!

#4 Lassis Inn, Little Rock, 1931 (but It's been said as early as 1905)
*We all LOVE SOME FRIED CATFISH! And this is your place.... with a lot of History.
It also served as a place for African Americans to come to during the Civil Rights movement where they could feel safe and talk freely.

#3 Jones Barbecue Diner, Marianna Open Since the 1910s
*Here is a cool fact: This diner is believed to be the country's oldest black-owned restaurant.

#2 Ozark Cafe, Jasper Open Since 1909
*According to their page, New York Magazine's Grub Street listed this cafe in their list of the Top 50 foodie destinations.

#1 White House Café, Camden, 1907
*This one has award-winning steaks, plus meatloaf, roast beef, chicken fried steaks and of course burgers. It also has pool tables and a TV to watch sports. Can you believe it's 115 years old? Wow!

If you have ever been to any of these? Please let us know in comments!

Pig Trail - 24 miles
(ARKANSAS)

This is just a portion of a 24 mile ride and one of Arkansas premier rides and USA Today list this ride as the # 2 best ride in America (per one Site). The rugged and forested Boston Mountains region of the Ozark Mountains provides the setting for this route, which often runs through a tunnel of foliage during spring, summer and fall. Spring wildflowers and brilliant autumn foliage make the route especially popular during those seasons. This Ride should be on everyone's Bucket List!

The “Pig Trail,” named for its use as a shortcut for University of Arkansas Razorbacks fans traveling to Fayetteville, is widely-known by motorcyclists as one of the best rides in the state, if not the entire south.

Many do not know but The Pig Trail Ride is a loop that spans 280 miles from beginning to end, and the ride should take you close to seven hours to complete.

*Step by Step Directions*

*From St. Paul Head south on AR-23 for 24 miles!
Ride on!

The unique Mammoth Orange Cafe serves up everyone's favorites in Redfeild, Arkansas:
The unofficial landmark of Redfield, Arkansas is orange! Mammoth Orange has been around since 1966 and is still run by the same family!
The Mammoth Orange has been around since 1966 and it has stayed around because the family focus and delicious food make it a community staple!

Here are five things to know:

1.) The unique orange dome design was inspired by another giant orange restaurant chain in California in the 1950s. Mammoth Orange Cafe in Redfield even originally served fresh orange juice like the California stores. The owner's goal was to take the unique style, but make the cafe their own. Redfield's orange is the only one still operating in the U.S.

2.) Mammoth Orange Cafe has always been owned by the same family from grandparents to the now adult "kids." Ms. Ernestine Bradshaw ran the restaurant until her death in 2007. Her daughter, Cynthia Carter, took over until she passed away in 2017. Cynthia's sons now run the store. Fun fact: the sons are engineers too!

3.) Uniquely, Redfield's Mammoth Orange expanded in size to include sit-down dining. They keep their outside dining strong, though, which has helped in the pandemic. Six bolted down stools surround the front of the orange and there’s an ordering window where people can order and receive food.

4.) With more space in the dining room and kitchen, the menu has naturally grown. They are known for big burgers with high quality meat, but they also have an extensive breakfast menu, dairy bar, and an extremely popular catfish menu on Fridays.

5.) This place is like taking a step back in time and much of the history covers the walls. Original written recipes and photos from decade's past are a must-see when you head inside to eat. Enjoy the nostalgia!

Be sure and try the Banana Milkshake... made with fresh bananas and paired with a burger and fries, you can't go wrong!

SAN JUAN MOUNTAIN SKYWAY
(Colorado)
LENGTH: 129 miles
RIDE TIME: 3 Hours

I have never been on this but have heard it's one of the best !
A Motorcycle ride that has the incredible scenery you would expect in the Colorado Rockies.
The San Juan Mountain Skyway traverses multiple mountain passes that rise more than 11,000ft above sea level. There's countless number of hairpin turns and switchbacks (many without guardrails). Included on this route is the famous "Million Dollar Highway". This part of the ride is about 25 miles in length and is between Silverton, CO and Ouray, CO.

While you could motorcycle the San Juan Skyway in one day, it would make for a long ride if you only make a few stops. It's best to allow for 2 days, as there is so much to see and experience along the way.
Keep in mind the snow sticks around a lot longer up there in the spring and arrives again early in autumn. You'd be safest to plan a ride in July or August.
Love to read and see any pictures you can share !

There’s A Little Golden Gate Bridge In Arkansas. Crossing the White River where it meets with Table Rock Lake on Highway 187 to the town of Beaver, you’re going to find a gorgeous old suspension bridge. In fact, it’s the last bridge of its kind in the Natural State. There’s nothing quite like the Little Golden Gate of Arkansas. It’s a man made wonder crossing a natural wonder, and you’ll definitely want to check it out.
