The Beverly Mothers Club is a 20 year old social organization in Beverly MA committed to providing montly social outings, kids events and becoming a greater part of our community! Beverly Mothers Club members are from Beverly, Beverly Farms, Manchester, Hamilton, Magnolia, Essex, Gloucester, Danvers, Saugus, Salem, Lynnfield, Lynn and Winthrop! We are divided about evenly with 43% of our members i

n the 40+ range, 36% in the mid-30’s range and the remaining under 35 years old. In a recent member survey, most common responses were:

- Meet other women in the area

- Get involved in playgroups/socialize their children

- Network

- Socialize at night with other moms/women in the area

What Activities are held? MOMS NIGHT OUT: These are held once a month. It’s a time to enjoy an evening with friends but without the children. Sometimes it is just a social event, but other times there might be a guest speaker or activity. Some of the past meetings have included demonstrations on health and fitness, cooking, making holiday topiaries, photography and educational discussions on child-related issues. CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES: Each month, there is a scheduled children’s activity such as apple picking, Curious Creatures, dancing, ice-skating, bowling, or our annual Trick-or-Treating parade through Beverly Farms. PLAYGROUPS: Monthly playgroups will be held at Lynch Park or other locations to be determined by those attending. These are great ways to introduce your children to new friends in the community. MEALS FOR NEW MOMS: When a new baby arrives in your home, fellow members will deliver two meals to help you during those busy first weeks. How involved do I have to be? We have some members that join every year and only attend one event all year. Other members only attend the Moms’ Night out or Kids Events and others only attend playgroups. The BMC is however you want it to fit into your life and you can do as much or as little as you’d like – but of course we’d rather have you do more than less!

On Friday April 17th-Sunday April 26th three unique playhouses will be on display outside Nordstrom's at the Northshore mall. You can see the playhouses and enter to win one of them for your backyard through a raffle (tickets are 1 for $5 and 5 chances for $20). All proceeds will go directly to training and recruiting CASA volunteers in our community covering Essex county. CASA volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates for representing the best interest of neglected and abused children/foster youth in the area. CASA has been very successful on the West Coast and is just starting to develop here. Many youth are lost in the foster system the courts are overburdened and so are the social workers who are typically assigned over 20 cases at a time. The CASA rep has no more than 2 children assigned at a time so they can fully advocate for the child and help them find the right long term solution.
Currently there are more than 1150 foster care children in Essex County of which over 90% do not have a court appointed, trained volunteer representing the child's best interest. CASA of Essex County is a great organization that needs support and awareness in our community.

CASA is a national program with trained volunteers that help abused and neglected children who are stuck in the court system. Family Services is a non-profit social service agency located in Lawrence, MA and services the Greater Haverhill, Greater Lawrence, MA and Newburyport Massachusetts area.
