There’s no easy way to begin this post, so I suppose the most fitting words are: The ending of a legacy…
When we moved here after my mom’s passing, we did so with a deep sense of purpose—to continue her dream and keep Koinonia Valley Ranch alive. This place was her baby; it was her legacy of love, a space where family and friends gathered, where memories were made and everyone reconnected once again. And for the past four years, we have poured our hearts and lives into this place, learning, growing, and embracing the journey that came with it.
But seasons change, as do the chapters of our lives. As our children are growing—now 14, 11, and 6—we find ourselves at a crossroads, reflecting on what the future holds. The rising costs of running Koinania Valley Ranch and the evolving needs of our family have led us to a difficult yet necessary decision that has been bathed in so MUCH prayer:
This will be our final season. We will be closing down the rentals in October 2025.
This decision did not come easily. It has been met with deep reflection, careful consideration, countless prayers, and many heartfelt conversations. But we believe it is the right step forward for our family. While this transition is bittersweet, our hearts are full knowing that Koinonia Valley Ranch has been a place of joy, rest, and connection for so many. We hope that those who have spent time here will look back on their experiences with warmth and gratitude.
To everyone who has supported us on this journey—thank you. Your kindness, encouragement, and presence here have meant the world. We may not know exactly what the future holds, but we are ready for this next phase.
And so, in light of this news, if you've been considering one last visit, please reach out—we would love to help make it happen! In fact, we've had some recent cancellations, so a few summer weekends have opened up again!
Many blessings on you and your family,
Emily and Jason Hicks
