Welcome to Saints & Sages, smart-luxury bespoke vacations and small group vacations Hi there! I’m Lindie, founder of Saints & Sages.

Travel and I go way, way, and I mean WAY back. I was raised in an airline family, traveling whenever I got a free moment (more like whenever there was an empty seat on the plane for me!). I graduated summa cm laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and then I got my master’s in Theoretical Linguistics with a concentration in s

econd language learning. Since that time, my work has focused on world language and cultural education, globalization/localization AI projects, and of course, TRAVEL. I have lived and/or worked on four continents, and I am fluent in five languages. I am also an ITMI-certified travel director. We are busy, busy, busy planning for next year's trips. Do you love Paris but not the crowds? Love beautiful scenery and ocean views? Enjoy a great meal? Come along with us!

We'll start in the gorgeous city of Bordeaux, sipping the best wines the world has to offer and taking in drool-worthy architecture. Then we'll make our way through Basque villages designated as France's most beautiful, both in the foothills of the Pyrenees and by the Atlantic coast. After this, we'll cross the border into Spanish Basque Country, making San Sebastián our home base. San Sebastián is one of the world's most famous cities for great cuisine, with an astounding number of Michelin-starred restaurants and a strong tapas tradition (called "pintxos").

Colmar, France. Possibly the most charming French village I’ve ever visited and birthplace of the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty. Our hotel was a historic building from the early 1600s, yet it had all the modern comforts.

Charcuterie lunch, tour, and tasting at an organic winery in Alsace. They do not add yeast to create their wines, relying solely on the yeasts naturally present on the grape skins. We tasted a number of wines, primarily dry rieslings. We also tried an orange wine, which is a fashionable new wine style.

It was a full day sampling wines from 9:30 am until 5 pm 🤩 I am that much closer to my WSET Level 2 Wine Certification!

Today’s favorites were a Gewurtztraminer from Alsace, and a Sauternes. There was also a Vouvray that I liked, as well as a Riesling Spätlese.

Tomorrow I get to get up and do it all over again!
