Have you not heard about Sticks & Stones yet? It’s surreal. You won’t believe it’s right here in Illinois. Bloomington, to be exact. This authentic log cabin is a stone cold stunner. Carved cedar logs from Oregon. Scandinavian Scribe notching. The logs you see inside are the same logs you see outside! Did you know that log homes are naturally insulated? Yesterday, the overnight temp was 37, the daytime temp was 63, and the cabin held 65 with no heat running. Incredible. When the temperature does need adjusting, our smart thermostat allows guests to set a personalized comfort range that will kick the heat on when it gets too low or the AC on when it gets too warm. Our furnace and air conditioner are TWIN BEASTS, so the cabin stays toasty in the winter and cucumber cool in the summer! 🥒
The structure is one of a kind. There are porches EVERYWHERE. Main level wraparound, private balconies off the loft and primary bedroom, walkout coated patio off the basement. All generously outfitted with numerous couches, chairs, settees, and rockers.
The interior decor is fascinating! From petite accents to oversized wall art - there is something new to notice and take delight in everywhere you look. The property is on a large corner lot with tall trees, and there is room to run around, crunch leaves, enjoy the swings, play yard games, grill, and sit around the fire pit. The view of the stars at night is incredible.
This place is built for FUN. There are 6 tv’s. Big TVs. They all have Hulu Live (like cable), Prime Video, and Netflix preloaded and ready to rock. There are TWO game rooms in the basement. One is active gaming and the other is more relaxed with pool, poker, and Xbox preloaded with GamePass. Air hockey, skee ball, foosball, basketball, darts, putter ball, ping pong, pool, poker, and a whole sideboard of board games.
The furniture is simply unrivaled. There is seating EVERYWHERE. There is a giant couch for 8 plus several more chairs in the living room. A 2-person fuzzy chaise lounge and a velvet sleeper sofa make the loft just heavenly. The dining table seats 8, and the counter has super comfortable bucket seats for hanging out in the kitchen. The basement has another velvet sleeper sofa, huge beanbag, and a tall counter table with matching pub stools. There are 4 cocktail tables, each with 2 stools. And of course, a poker table with 5 chairs.
The luxury amenities are dreamy. The hot tub is a whirlpool bath J-365, not even a year old. It seats up to 6 with plenty of space. The water and cupholders can light up and change colors. The system has constant filtration, and the owners take excellent care of the water. It even has a lift bar to make opening and closing the cover a total breeze. The sauna is also on the patio and has the BEST view out into the trees. You can connect your phone to the built in speaker and melt away with your favorite jams in the glow. There are also different colored lights for the perfect experience. The fresh wood smell inside the sauna is *chef’s kiss*. There is a nice table and chairs and a lovely hammock swing too. All of that is under cute bistro lights with a fabulous neon that makes you just know you’re on vacation!
Guests rave about the mattresses and often ask where they can buy one. Extra deep hybrid queens and kings on strong foundations. The queen beds hold up to 750 pounds and have storage underneath - YES! The king bed in the primary bedroom is on a remote controlled adjustable foundation that even has a vibrating massage feature. The 3 pullout sofas are custom-made with low profile queen memory foam mattresses. What fun are all the amenities if you don’t sleep well? We want you to knock out for the night oblivious to everything around you and wake up ready to enjoy everything the cabin and twin cities have to offer!
There are a ton of blankets, the pillows are fluffy, and the bedding is so cozy. There are 50+ oversized towels throughout, all super soft microfiber. Quick drying, soft to the touch. Whether you’re drying off after a spa soak or stepping out of the custom new walk-in shower with rainfall head and wall jets, these towels provide the perfect finish to every warm water experience.
Preparing and storing food is hassle free. There is a large French door refrigerator with ice maker in the kitchen and smaller beverage fridges in the primary suite and in the basement. The kitchen is stocked like your own home kitchen with nice dishes, silverware, glasses, pots, pans, sheets, small appliances, storage containers, and on and on. The dishwasher, microwave, and range complete the suite of appliances. An adorable COFFEE BAR stocked with k-cups and a multitude of syrups is within easy reach of the kitchen, living room, and wraparound porch.
And lastly, the service. Your hosts are 2 real, local people. We are in love with the cabin and take so much joy in making your stay magnificent. We prepare for every stay thoroughly, ensuring exceptional cleanliness and a smooth check in every time. We offer baby items like high chair, playpen, stroller, jumper, baby gates, and toddler dishes. We go to great lengths to prevent issues and have earned our reputation for being immediately responsive when something needs attention. And we don’t make you choose between this amazing experience and your pets. Bring them, just disclose them when you book and make them earn that $100 you’ll pay on their behalf by picking up sticks or fetching you a High Noon or something.

We’ve had 2, and we’ve had 22. Our average is about 10 guests per stay.
Summer is the highest demand. The kids are out of school, and it’s a great place for family reunions, graduation parties, birthday parties, bridal parties, baby showers, officer retreats, and more. Costs are highest during this season but easy to split and save.
Winter brings more intimate stays and lower pricing. Make hay while the sun…jumps back an hour or shines or whatever. But definitely take advantage of the cabin experience while prices are lowest. We’re talking November - February. Super Bowl weekend is higher, but so worth it. Just remember, there are only 4 weekends in a month, and once they’re booked, they’re gone. Reserve your stay early!
We also like to accommodate our guests’ comfort with platforms, so we now offer bookings through Airbnb and VRBO. Friends, family, and trusted returning guests have the option to book direct and save.
