Temple of Karnak - the largest religious complex in Egypt
After a leisurely cruise back to Luxor, we visited the impressive Temple of Karnak. Built over the course of 1,300 years, it is stunning! It is a great architectural marvel. Standing in the Hypostyle Hall and looking at the 136 colossal columns is simply overwhelming.

Abu Simbel is one of the most impressive temples. Visiting Abu Simbel we learned about the way the temple was built and the way it was moved from its original location.
Another great day in Egypt: Philae Temple and High Tea at the Old Cataract Hotel
In order to visit the Philae Temple, we embarked small motor boats. The temple is located on an island in Lake Nasser. Philae was the cult center of Isis during the ancient Egyptian times.
In the evening, most of us joined the High Tea at the Old Cataract, the British colonial hotel from 1899 with a gorgeous view over the Nile.

Our deaf group visiting Edfu, Egypt
Edfu is known for the remarkably preserved Horus temple honoring the falcon-headed god. It was built in 230 B.C. and is the second largest temple in Egypt.
Hatshepsut - Egypt's first female ruler
Visiting the Valley of the Queens and the Valley of the Kings was spectacular. Being at Hatshepsut's temple, one of Egypt's most successful pharaohs was one of the highlights of the tour that day.
Luxor Temple, Egypt
The flight from Cairo to Luxor was approx. one hour. We embarked our beautiful ship, the AmaDahlia. The visit of the Luxor Temple at night was a very special experience. It was overwhelming.
Visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World
It was breathtaking to be at ancient sites like Memphis, Sakkara and The Pyramids of Giza. It felt like a journey 4,600 years back in time. The Pyramid of Cheops is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Our city tour of Cairo
A bus tour took us to different parts of the city. A highlight was the visit of the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities.
Deaf Land & Nile River Cruise Egypt - National Museum of Egyptian Civilization
Our deaf group had a wonderful time in Egypt. We went there in January this year. We did a land tour and a Nile River Cruise. What an amazing tour!
Portugal - Azulejos
Portugal is famous for its azulejos, tin-glazed tiles. Azulejos beautify the inside or outside of many buildings like private homes, churches, palaces, public buildings, or restaurants. Many azulejos document major historical and cultural events of Portuguese history. You can see many azulejos when joining our #deafvacation tour through Portugal in April 2023.
