Michael had a great idea for drying some garlic. The kennel on the right holds approximately 250 heads. The basement has a dehumidifier and we have a fan blowing over the area to circulate the air. Pretty awesome. Need 2 or 3 more kennels and space and we are good to go. 😉 We trim all the roots off upon harvesting, because we feel like they are a vector for moisture.

One example of what to do with garlic scapes. Cut them into green bean lengths and sauté in butter, salt and pepper. We like to cook them till they are almost crispy. Added some fresh snap peas towards the end. Yummy!
Probably the last of the scapes this Saturday.

So, I’ll be At Burnsville Wine this Saturday with eggs and some honey from 1 to 2pm.
I can’t believe the size of the egg on the right. The one on the left is an extra large jumbo so the one on the right is just plain humongous!😊
Gonna have a contest for a free dozen eggs for the person who guesses the closet weight in grams of the egg on the right. You will need to come pick up your eggs this Saturday between 1 and 2 so the cutoff for answers will be 11pm Friday.

First round of Red, white and yellow onion sets in the ground. Beautiful day for digging in the dirt. I think this might be the earliest in a long time to have something other than garlic planted. Feels good and hoping for a good onion year.

Warmer temperatures means the bees are out. In this video, you can see them bringing in pollen from our hazelnut trees.(the little olive colored balls on their back legs) This pollen has protein and nutrients in it that is then fed to the larvae. Very important Pollination of the plants the bees visit is also happening. Bees are so very important to our everyday lives.
