While the more than 80 units will be accesible to lower income residents of Salt Lake City, they will have to wait a while longer due to global supply chain shortages. Its a six story apartment complex made of recycle shipping containers. Developers had hoped to open mid summer, but delays in roofing materials and an elevator has it delayed until end of the year. However, this is a great response for affordable housing!

AMP, an artisan food marketplace in Indianapolis, opened last year under Chef Craig Baker. It will be equal parts food hall, grocery hub, performance center, and community center. There are a total 15 shipping containers inside the large space. InMod Construction supplied the containers, refurbished them, and outfit each one with power and water supply. Baker wants to help Indy's best businesses grow and help launch those looking to take the next step.

"The Depot" just opened in Jeffersonville, IN in the Arts & Cultural District. A collection of repurposed shipping containers, it features two levels, a green space, a stage and bar. A local artist painted murals on many of the units. They plan to have live music, food trucks, and art vendors.

The structure is meant to serve as a remote living space that can be used and adapted to anything this post-pandemic world throws at you. Right now it sits in a community garden in Poznan, Poland but can be reolcated anywhere in the forest.

This two story home crafted from shipping container materials is designed to rise and fall with the natural changes in sea level. The area is still recovering from hurricanes and this home comes in as affordable, sustainable, and resilient. The main building is made of two forty foot containers that have been cut in half diagonally and stacked on top of each other. The 470 sq foot home includes a bedroom, bathroom, and living space on the first floor and the kitchen, dining room, and outdoor decks on the second floor. This home was designed by the principal architect of Rekstur and serves as the primary residence for him & his family.

The pier was built on a commercial shipping pier and pays homage to its roots with a repurposed shipping container bar. The perfect place to enjoy Spanish tapas, cheese & charcuterie, and wines. The hosts named him after Frank Lloyd Wright - you’ll see that the container is cantilevered over the pool of water creating an exquisite experience (he even bounces a little!). This 20’ container was painted by Jamie Krooks and is located in Ireland. The artist is best known for his typographically informed, abstract and geometric artworks - all on display on this brightly colored piece! Corrugated painting surfaces are never ideal so lots of patience is required to achieve good geometry & minimal fuzz. Turned out great! .

This colorful shipping container mural greeted the media as they entered the Commonwealth Games Main Press Center (MPC) at the Gold Coast Convention Center. The artwork was installed by four students from Queensland College of Art over a three day period. It was inspired by the colors of the Games athlete’s village.

Rowena Martinich and Geoffrey Carran worked together in creating this mural piece on a 20-foot shipping container for the Nitejar Festival in 2016. The visitors to the Nitejar were invited to interact with the mural and photograph themselves for social media as a cross-promotional process.

At over 80 playable acres, they built a shipping container ‘city’ perfect for a multistory urban combat course. They invite first timers as well as enthusiasts to visit their park and find a field that fits their skill level. Check them out for fun for all ages!

This restaurant and bar has a relaxed beach ambiance and the perfect view of Amsterdam. Pllek is built using shipping containers stacked in a C shape, covered by a curved roof. The front of the restaurant opens to a beautiful view with picnic tables to enjoy the outdoor dining. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner, and small bites. Its also a host to music events, films, and parties (pre-pandemic of course!).

Rockwell Beer Co utilized a Community Development Block Grant Loan to assist in financing their new location in the St Louis Grove neighborhood. The building features a shipping container design that will lend itself to a perfect brewery ambiance; they have even partnered with a local chef for their menu. The brewer hopes to be making beers that are approachable and progressive. Looks like they’ve succeeded!

This absolutely stunning container home is on Mercer Island, WA and is the perfect example of utilizing shipping containers in addition to an already existing structure. This family wanted to bring their 1960s home into the 21st century and the designers and builders proposed a solution using repurposed shipping containers. Upon taking the proper steps, containers can serve as underground cellars, emergency shelters and more!

Weld Nashville renovated an old boot factory warehouse into a collaborative co-working community office space. It utilizes shipping containers in an open warehouse space one over 2300 sq ft. Designed by Shelden Architecture, private offices occupy most shipping containers, while one has become a coffee bar! Who wouldn’t want to work here?!

The offices of New West Distributing in Sparks, NV were created out of shipping containers. They manage their beer distributor from their unique shipping container offices. The shipping containers have been placed inside a warehouse to create individual offices. They specialize in the distribution of domestic and imported beers across the Nevada area. The individual offices also share stories of the relationships they’ve built with their clients, showcasing special trinkets & collectibles.

The software firm Globant's office in Bogotá, Colombia, was designed by the firm AEI Arquitectura e Interiors. The space was inspired by travel – the designers and architects wanted to create a space that was reminiscent of the wonders of traveling and learning about new cultures and environments. This sense of travel is enforced with the use of shipping containers throughout the space, with the containers making up meeting rooms and private work areas, and being painted vibrant colors. The office also features plenty of collaborative and lounge spaces, as well as areas where employees can go when they're looking for more privacy. Globant's Colombia-based office uses color and bold designs to create an environment where employees are able to thrive.

A Berlin based start up is giving new life to shipping containers as tiny food trucks. Walkingboxes is making mobile kitchens out of shipping containers. It seems theres no better time to introduce this concept as in many cities outdoor dining is the only option. The founder believes the food truck industry will come out strong after the pandemic. The shipping container's durable steel composition translates well to a food truck and can be completely customizable. Blk dot coffee's newest location in Irvine, CA is in a beautifully painted and upcycled shipping container! Check them out at this spot on Von Karman Ave. Their signature VTM (vietnamese coffee) is both delicious and highly caffeinated! They pump out specialty coffees, and fresh small eats. Known across the area, we know putting this new spot down will see all their local regulars visiting daily!
