It's pretty cool seeing youth with drive to fish. This little guy has been out with me twice now. Last year he brought in five or six salmon one being a 20lb king. All the coho were wild and we had to put them back and the chinook season was closed so his 20lber went back and he went home with nothing but memories. This year he lost a couple at the boat and landed his two fish limit to take home for dinner tonight.

FYI,
Listed below are some open days we have for fishing trips. We can fish up to six and will taylor it based on what we are going after.

We will be fishing out of a 27ft (30ft OAL) Almar Sounder pilothouse that was commercially built in Washington. It's one of the best fishing platforms out there. Its very stable and safe. It has a warm cabin standup head and all the latest electronics and safety gear.

DM me for more information.

Well after spending the last four months working on the Almar it's almost ready to move back into its slip on the Oregon coast. It's had a long list improvements from bottom paint, side wrap, all new upholstery, new head, rocket launchers, epirb, to top of the line Simrad electronics. Looking forward to putting a lot of fish on the deck this year. Hit me up if you're looking to book a trip from bottom fishing to tuna and halibut trips.

It's been kinda of a grind for the coho this year. Like everyone we fished through lots of wild fish to get just a few hatchery fish. We are definitely putting a lot of fish to the boat just to many fins. It's also been pretty disappointing to have to put back hatchery kings. I had an 8 year old land a 20 pounder the other day and gave him the bad news it had to go back. But on a high note the Almar is preforming great and although it still has a long way to go its going to be a awesome fishing platform.

It will be a long project getting this boat were I want it but I am making some progress. Went through the trailer and fortunately it hadn't been used much so some simple fixes got it all in working order. I installed two Lowrance hds 12s a Point1 gps and two VHFs in addition to what was in the boat. Then on to the big job of cutting out the cabin and reconfiguring it to recreational fishing. Adding bench seats, suspension seat for passenger a stand up head, stove and refrigerator. This Almar will be a fish killing machine at some point.

So I have been on the hunt for a bigger boat for a long time. I passed on some missed some all the while the cost have gone crazy. I came across a 27 x 9.6 Almar Sounder. It needs a lot of work but they are built like tanks and it will end up being a fish killing machine. It was one of the last few boats to come out of the Almar plant in Washington before North River moved manufacting to Roseburg. It was commercially built in 06 for a cost of 184k.
Have no idea what it would cost today. I will have send my Seahawk down the road and start the long process of going through this one.

Been watching what the guys at Nizpromarine.com have been doing with yamaha outboards for a while. Their tunes are pretty impressive. They finally came out with one for the 2.8s. I just finished flashing my ECU and can't wait to see how the boat runs with extra 81 horsepower not to mention 8%-16% better fuel efficiency. The 19.6 NR Scout is pretty light for a 150 all ready but with running the jet pump currently its always nice to have extra reserve power. Running the prop it was already scary fast.

It's that time again. Fishing is picking up. I will be running trips for coho salmon and bottom fish throughout the summer. The coho fishing should be good again this year. I have openings 7/4-7/10 7/16 and 7/17 then again 7/29-7/31. In August I will be mixing in trips in the Bouy 10 area and out of the Columbia river bar . Hit me up to save a spot.

I spent most of the winter going through the 19.6 NR Scout I bought in October. With the cost of new boats out of control sometimes its makes sense to refurbish an older one. This one had almost new motors so it seemed like a good place to start. I ended up putting in more work then I thought by pulling all the floor foam and zinc primer and painting the inside bottom due to corrosion found. I was able to do all but the anchor gauard and the swim deck myself. Still waiting on the most important upgrade. The jet pump was 6 months out so hopefully I will get it in May.

New diamond plate nose and anchor gauard swim deck
Hydraulic Jack Plate
Built up transom to 30 inchs
Diamond plate floor
Wetlander bottom coat
Am/Fm radio
Command link tach
Networked motor to Garmin
BlueSea switch panel and ACR
Bow mount MinnKota
Ect ect.

And it begins. New floors first up. Foam is bad news. This stuff holds water starts corrosion issues not to mention added a lot of weight from being water logged. Bet between the soaked plywood and foam it was about 400 lbs. Could barely flip the 4×10 center sheet out it was so heavy
