Ted Lawson Artist

Ted Lawson Artist Welcome! I hope you enjoy the paintings which can be viewed in the "Artwork" photo album. After all, isn’t that what art is all about?

As new paintings are completed, I will be posting them here on my Facebook site as well as on my website -- www.tedlawsonartist.com. I love New York City almost as much as creating artwork based on the City’s people and places. I love capturing seemingly forgettable moments and extracting their elements to construct something brand new. Through constant observations of the world around about me, I

often wonder what is going on beneath the surface. Is an everyday scene truly just a forgettable moment or could it be something more? By taking elements from various settings and unifying them in his artwork, I transform what was, into a singular moment of what could have been. I believe that art takes our common experience and expands the reality into something greater. I apply this belief not only to pieces that feature New York City but also to artwork based on locations throughout the world. I am grateful for the many opportunities I've had to observe while traveling throughout North and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. I look forward to the future, to further expanding reality by creating singularly spectacular moments that exist in the artwork I create. Contact me for private art lessons for the range of those just starting out to accomplished artists. I also teach composition and design at the Canton Museum of Art in Canton, Ohio. For more information, please contact me through my website www.TedLawsonArtist.com.

At the conclusion of this summer session of Classic Watercolor at Home from the Canton Museum of Art, I provided two parting thoughts to my students as they sail off on their artistic journey, seeing and doing.

Great advice! I plan to take it one day soon.

I love when a student follows up with a question about a class presentation or homework assignment. I know they are interested and eager to learn.

I especially like it when the note begins like this:)

Hi professor Ted!
Thank you for your e mail.

Exhibiting at 78th Street Studios is a numbers game. For me it has been 54 months, nearly as many Third Fridays, thousands of laughs and hundreds of new and return visitors. And on April 19, 2019 I will be enjoying one last Third Friday in Gallery +. I am closing my wall in Suite 109

Re-branding the workshop details for the CMA School of Art summer workshop. It is really not that scary but, the old details sure sounded like it. Going for fun this time. Stay tuned.

Critique night at Akron Society of Artists was amazing. The artwork was stunning as usual. Glad I was there to see it all up-close.

Student 1 to student 2, "are we too busy for class next week?" Student 2 replies to student 1, "no, we're not too busy, besides,we need this for peace of mind". End of story. We're in class next week. Love teaching watercolor.

I'm generally inspired by other artist's work or the way they work or their style. I need constant inspiration because I am easily distracted. I love painting but am easily distracted. I have to go paint Ciao!

My student bragged happily to his wife today telling her "I got three "that's rights" and one "good job" at today's art lesson with Ted..

It was a good day at art class.

Good job, my man!!

The Rush Hour series happens to be a favorite theme for me and RUSH HOUR V is one of those paintings. All of the paintings feature people in landmark locations on the move or about to be on the move, in a hurry to get to the next stop. RUSH HOUR V clearly represents figures and vehicles waiting to go somewhere but all are stopped because of the traffic lights present in this underpass / overpass.
