Molly (Mary) Kometiani, MA, LPAT, ATR-BC, LPCC, is a licensed board-certified art therapist, licensed professional clinical counselor, lecturer, and author. She is the owner and art therapist of Art Therapy Heals, LLC, collaborating with community organizations and educating the public about art therapy and its benefits. Molly has over a decade of experience providing art therapy for survivors of sex trafficking, homeless families victimized by domestic violence, inpatient and outpatient pediatric medical patients and their caregivers, and families of hospice patients and the bereaved. Molly is a leader in Ohio art therapy; since 2011 she has continuously served on the Buckeye Art Therapy Association board including as President for two terms. In addition to having worked as an adjunct faculty member, Mary has delivered numerous creative workshops and presentations at local colleges and regional, national, and international conferences. Molly is the editor of Art Therapy Treatment for Sex Trafficking Survivors: Facilitating Empowerment, Recovery, and Hope in addition to authoring several articles and book chapters.

Ursuline College Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy and Graduate Counseling and Art Therapy, Cuyahoga Community College Associate of Arts Pre-Art Therapy Program, and the Buckeye Art Therapy Association are seeking poster session presenters for the 24th Annual Arts and Healing Exhibition Creative Resilience: Art's Role in Mental Health at Tri-C Gallery East Opening Reception and Exhibit Hall: February 27th 6-9 pm. Presenters can sell books, have displays, and showcase information about their work.

The BATA Board wants to recognize Don Cutcher, ATR-BC, LPAT, HLM for his tireless advocacy work, steadfast support, and unmeasurable dedication to the Ohio Art Therapy community.

As a founding member and providing over 40 years of service on the board and committees, we are beyond grateful for his friendship, mentorship, and leadership.

Our Story

Art Therapy Heals, LLC collaborates with art organizations, mental health agencies, and educates the community about art therapy and the benefits of its services. Art therapy is a natural and non-threatening form of expression that communicates what cannot be stated in words. The American Art Therapy Association defines art therapy as a mental health profession that uses art to enrich an individual’s emotional, physical and mental wellness. Art therapy is an engaging creative process that helps individuals resolve inner struggles, develop social skills, increase self-esteem and autonomy, and attain awareness. Molly is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Registered Board Certified Art Therapist. She has experience as an instructor of art therapy, and has provided supervision to master’s level internship students and art therapists working towards their ATR Certification. Molly has diverse professional work experience in settings such as a pediatric hospital, hospice and bereavement, and a homeless shelter for women and children. Most recently she has provided community art therapy groups for families, adults who have been diagnosed with cancer and survivors of s*xual assault. Her current focus is treating females who have been s*x trafficked. Molly serves on the Board of Directors of the the Buckeye Art Therapy Association in addition to the Honors Committee Member for the American Art Therapy Association. She has delivered numerous creative workshops and presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. She has also authored professional journal articles and book chapters.
