CANTON GHOST TOUR FAQ

How much does it cost?

There may be an opportunity for some tickets to be sold onsite if we are not sold out at $20 each. Will we be going into buildings? Tours will be outside. We will be walking a little over a mile downtown Canton and you will be learning about the history and lore of local b

uildings. Will I see any ghosts? While we do not have a contract with the entities, often times orbs and strange shadows may be caught on camera. If you happen to have ghost-hunting equipment, you are welcome to bring that. Can I take photos? Filming, however, is not permitted. Is my guide a psychic? No, but your guide has extensive experience researching history and folklore and has years of experience giving tours in New York and North Carolina. After moving back to her childhood home, she realized downtown Canton was lacking a ghost tour, so she researched and created one. Is this tour appropriate for children? If your children are interested in history and folklore, yes. We recommend ages 13 and over. We will be talking about some grim subject matter like death and murder. The walk will be about 1.3 miles, so as long as they can keep up the pace and have an interest, they are welcome. Where do we meet? On 6th St. Northwest, across from the Palace Theatre. If you are facing the Palace, this is to the left of the theatre, across the street, right down from from the elephant statues, heading down 6th towards Court Ave. We will be ending at a local establishment just a couple blocks from where we started. How long is the tour? Approximately 90 minutes to two hours, and 1.3 miles

Is it wheelchair friendly? We have a few uneven sidewalks and a small set of stairs. If you notify us in advance we may be able to alter the route to accommodate you. What if it rains? Tours go rain or shine. We will do our best to go out, unless there is a significant and severe storm. If there is severe weather, we will contact you via email ASAP. Where do I park? ’Twas the night before Halloween and to Canton we toast….the spirits are stirring and we conjure the ghosts. It’s a day that was created for the of love for AnYoNe who needs and deserves some love. And it’s TODAY.

Sweetest Day began in Cleveland in 1922 when a man named Herbert Birch Kingston decided to bring a little happiness into the lives of orphans, shut-ins and others who were often forgotten. With the help of friends, he distributed candy and small gifts to Cleveland's underprivileged. In the early 1930s, even movie stars got into the act. Ann Pennington distributed candy to 2,200 Cleveland newspaper boys, and Theda Bara gave candy to theater-goers and patients in Cleveland hospitals.

Observance of Sweetest Day is still most prevalent primarily in the Great Lakes region where the holiday originated.

Somehow this holiday morphed into Valentine’s Day Part Dos over the years, but that was not the intention of this October day. It was not intended as a money-grab. It was not intended as anything but a way to love and appreciate the sweetest people.

We at Black Cat Tales & Tours are suckers for any type of dark or spooky attraction. That’s why we are looking forward to Epic Universe at Universal Orlando, in particular one of the themed lands in the park called ”Dark Universe.”

May 22, 2025 was just announced as the opening date for Epic Universe!

Once visitors step through the Dark Universe portal, they’ll step into to a place full of dark energy: the village of Darkmoor. Here, visitors will “encounter everything from the experiments of Dr. Victoria Frankenstein to the shadowy landscape where monsters roam in a world of myth and mystery.”

And check out this “Stake”house, themed like the catacombs of a Vampire’s Lair.

It’s ALIVE! It’s ALIVE!

Ticket sales are now ALIVE for our summer ghost tour on June 29, held after Monsterfest. (You do not have to be attending Monsterfest to participate in the ghost walk…..it’s kind of similar to church: all are welcome.)

This past week we presented a program for North Canton Public Library‘s senior programming series. We had so much fun discussing the murders, mysteries, macabre and paranormal stories of Stark County. Thanks for hosting us!

Hey there, fellow Creeps! We here at Black Cat Tales & Tours just got back from the Professional Ghost Tour Guides Conference in Richmond (well last Monday actually, but I had been in Japan after that, and am just now getting around to posting). It was hosted by Richmond Haunts (highly recommend this small locally owned tour company if you ever find yourself in RVA) and we did all these really cool things. First and foremost: the Poe Museum. (Sidenote: Baltimore and Philly also have Edgar Allen Poe museums to visit and I would love to hear from you if you have been to either.) We stayed at a haunted hotel called the Linden Row Inn. And we had an investigation of the John Marshall House and dinner at three different haunted taverns each night we were there. Perfect weekend. Keep a close eye on this page for upcoming events in Northeast Ohio. The exchange of ideas at this conference always inspires new ideas and tours.
