Are you running the Amway River Bank Run?
Bring your old running shoes to the training run on Saturday or the expo next week and look for the Festival bins!

We are partnering with GotSneakers and Amway River Bank Run to collect old shoes to recycle and raising money for the Festival of the Arts.

What: Any pair of shoes (i.e. running, dress, kids, etc.)
Where: You can drop off at the following Amway River Bank Run events
-May 4th - First Saturday of the Month Training Run
-May 10th - Amway River Bank Run Sports and Fitness Expo @ Festival of the Arts Booth
-May 11th - Amway River Bank Run Finish Fest (Look for the bins at the DeVos Place)
-June 7,8,9- Festival of the Arts 2024

Why: We are helping keep old shoes out of our landfills while supporting Festival of the Arts!

Everything you need to know for Race Day - Day 11

Do you have a goal pace for your race? Are you shooting for a PR? Do you need a little help and motivation to stay on pace? Anxiety over maintaining the pace you want to run in a long race is a real thing. Where do I line up at the Start Line? Will there be someone to help me maintain my pace? What if I fall off pace? The Amway River Bank Run Pacing Team is there to help and encourage you to do your best!

Lead by Andrew Buikema, our pace team provides support in the Fifth Third Bank 25k, by maintaining paces from 7:00 to 13:00 minutes. Whether this is your first time running the 25k or if you've done it for years, this very experienced group of runners will guide you through the race and across the finish line. The pace groups consist of 3 or 4 people that will have special pacer shirts and carry a pace sign, so they are easily identified. In addition, when lining up at the start, you will see gate signs that also indicate suggested pace.

Unfortunately, sometimes we fall off of our desired pace. This can even happen to our Elite athletes from time to time, but DON'T GIVE UP!! You may need to slow down and recover for a little while and then work your way back up to the pace group, but believe in yourself and know that you can do it! Do your best to maintain eyesight of the pace sign so you can still gauge your pace.
