Our last day of the 🚢 was a sea day as we headed back to port at Tampa. After four port heavy days, we were wiped! Lots of 🏊‍♂️ time, 📚 and 💤 filled the day. Everyone found their happy place, including those unnamed people who needed a last run at the all you can eat lunch buffet!

We have not cruised often but chose to explore this itinerary for the adventurous ports. With four teenagers, the limitless dining & entrainment options were a huge incentive! We had a ton of family time but everyone also had their own space and opportunities to explore and venture out on the ship with some level of independence.

The last few highlights!
🍴Nightly dinner in the main dining room together each night was incredible! The food was impressive and the daily dessert (yes, EVERY night) was a true highlight for the kids. We had the same servers nightly, who engaged with the kids and knew preferences & tastes by day 2!
☎️ And none of these! There is always an option to purchase an internet package if interested).
🎤 Nightly karaoke was a hit! 3 out of the 6 Moriarty’s sang a solo—can you guess which 3?!—you might be surprised!
🌮 Have I mentioned the daily nacho bar?!!
🍹 Increible beverage packages (including alcoholic & non-alcoholic options)
🍦AND…unlimited ice cream (8 in one day was the record)

🚢 Enchantment of the Seas was a small but mighty ship. For some of us who were not “cruisers,” this ship had exactly what we needed. And departing on the eve of Hurricane Debbie’s arrival to Florida, the first night of sailing was an adventure but the kids slept through it all. 🌊🌊🌊

Our last port was Costa Maya, Mexico and what a surprise this small port was! Situated on the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula, this was one of the 1st cruise ports in the western Caribbean. Quite honestly we had heard mixed reviews about this port prior to traveling, but we walked away quite impressed and happy to have had the chance to explore it.

Costa Maya was our first port without an excursion. At the urging of our dinner server, we ventured out to explore the many sights demonstrating the Mexican Mayan culture.

So much to explore at Costa Maya!
☀️ multiple swimming pools, including a large saltwater pool with swim up bar and gradual entry for little ones (no cost, but you’ll need to purchase a beverage to reserve a seat at one of the amazing loungers)
☀️ the Bird Aviary—8 different habitats connected by hanging bridges—which encompassed much of the port and could be explored with a low cost admission ticket.
☀️ many small stores & shops selling souvenirs and other pieces of Mayan art
☀️ dolphin encounters (for a fee, arranged in advance)
☀️ free trolley service (runs from the cruise ships into port for those who prefer to ride)
☀️ golf cart rentals—can be reserved for the day to venture outside of the cruise port area and to local attractions & beaches

All in all, this was a great last port for our family. Everyone enjoyed the pool and getting to do some shopping for last minute souvenirs and shirts.

Early the next morning we arrived to Belize City, our first tender port. ⛴️. Tendering means the cruise ship anchors close to, but not AT, the port, usually due to shallow waters. Royal Caribbean communicated so well with guests about what to expect and how to make plans to travel to port via tender boats. Lucky for us, we had an excursion booked and our tendering tickets & departure time were already booked and taken care of!✅

What a day we had in Belize! Cave tubing and zip lining in the Belizean jungle were definitely a bucket list item for us! Completely arranged through our excursion, we traveled by motocoach with our group to the jungle where we were led by Pedro, our incredible tour guide, through the in’s & out’s of cave tubing and zip lining.

1️⃣ of us may have been scared to death to zip line, 1️⃣ hadn’t done it in over 20 years, and a different one of us (to be remain anonymous!) feared the claustrophobia in a cave. EVERY fear conquered! 🙌

Our second port was the gorgeous Roatan, an island off the northern coast of Honduras. Known for its stunning beauty, marine life and coral reefs, Roatan was a family favorite!

After a warm welcome with native dancing and a flag show, we were whisked off by private charter to the beautiful island of Maya Key. Known for its beaches and snorkeling, as well as for the rescued & endangered animals that are cared for on the island, Maya Key was a slice of tropical paradise.

A family favorite for endless reasons!
🌴 white sand beaches & crystal clear waters
🌴 large swimming pool with loungers & hammocks
🌴 animal encounters with the monkeys (we couldn’t get enough of these furry and mischievous animals!)
🌴 lunch buffet of native Honduran foods
🌴 Mayan ruins that have been refurbished and can be explored
🌴 large & clean bathrooms with showers & locker rooms
🌴 endless spaces to explore around the island

What an incredible day we had at Maya Key and Roatan! We topped this day off with 🌺 tropical night 🌺 in the Main Dining Room—what a treat!
