Bonaire is known as a “Diver’s Paradise” and for good reason. The full coastline of Bonaire has been designated as a marine sanctuary to preserve marine life. From shore dives to boat dives, you will be surrounded by hundreds of fish species, colorful corals, and even whale sharks in the springtime.

Handelskade in Willemstad, Curaçao, is one of the most photographed sets of buildings. The brightly painted Colonial Dutch buildings sit along St. Anna Bay. It's throwback Thursday and I'm taking you back to a trip I took to Maui, Hawaii in 2010. These are all my personal photos taken on my trip. Starting from the top corner is Molokini, which is a small volcanic formed crater that has excellent snorkeling and diving. Top right corner is the view from the Sheraton Maui at Ka'anapali Beach which is on the west side of Maui and near the historic town of Lahaina that was devasted by a wildfire in August 2023. Bottom right corner is a picture at sunset of a ceremony that takes place every evening at sunset at Black Rock which is where the Sheraton is located. Black Rock is also a great place for snorkeling.

All resorts on the west side of Maui are now reopened for business. However, the town of Lahaina is still closed for clean-up and recovery. I was very devastated by the destruction caused in Lahaina having visited there several times. It was such a beautiful and historic place. Tourism is the #1 means for income for this area. Please consider visiting the west side of Maui to help the people of Maui recover and rebuild.

We would like to honor all men and women who have sacrificed so much serving in the U. S. military for our freedom. Pictured here is the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii. Hawaii lives on island time, and it’s not just a time zone. It’s a way of life. Think comfortable pace and relaxed attitude. The clothing you pack should reflect that! Whale season on Maui typically runs from November through May. While they can sometimes be seen from the shore, your best bet is to do a watching tour by boat. The best scenic times are said to be early morning and sunset, so consider booking around those times. Be sure to do so in advance.
