Time for yet another reminder from me about evolving requirements for US travelers in 2025.

I feel like a broken record mentioning RealID again, but unless you want to carry your passport for domestic flights you'll need to upgrade your drivers license to be Real ID compliant. The current deadline is May 7, 2025.

The UK implemented an Electronic Travel Authorization yesterday for US Citizens visiting the UK, or simply changing planes in a UK airport. This is an online application as well at a cost of 10£ for travelers who do not need a Visa. This authorization will be electronic and valid for two years, or when your passport expires, whichever comes first. Current recommendations are that travelers complete the process a month prior to arrival.

There is also an extra hoop to jump through for those planning to visit Europe beginning in mid-2025. Americans will need to fill out an application online and spend €7 to obtain an ETIAS authorization. This authorization will be electronic and valid for three years, or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.
