Attention, Clay Center! 🚨We have an unexpected situation to report: one of the zoo’s giraffes 🦒has managed to break free and is currently on the loose! This gentle giant is known for his playful spirit, so be cautious- he might be a bit wilder than usual! ⚠️

Let's take another look at one of the 2025 Kansas Governor's Arts Award recipients.

Clay Center was selected as the Rural Arts Community of the Year. Congrats to the whole city! If you haven't already, you'll want to check out all their great public art in person and support their hard work!

A Mural Movement of Clay Center, based in City of Clay Center, began in 2020 as a Clay Center Rotary Club project. Under then-President Brett Hubka’s leadership, seven volunteers set out to install a single mural in downtown. Since then, the initiative has flourished. More than 30 murals now brighten the community, supported by over $320,000 in contributions from businesses, individuals, grants, a 5K race, and even memorials. Donations have poured in from 21 states, many from Clay Center Community High School alumni.

Rich history in Clay County! Come Explore!

Stone bridge in Utility Park, Clay Center, Kansas. The park opened in 1933 and much of the stonework there was done by residents giving labor in exchange for the cost of their utilities during the tough times of the Great Depression.
