Even the best plans can go awry due to circumstances outside of our control!
What happened?
First, our private transfer was at the wrong resort and we were waiting about 30 minutes. Not a big deal.
We then left Hotel Xcaret Mexico for our 35-minute journey to our second and final resort of the trip.
Our room wasnโt ready so we enjoyed a fabulous lunch and explored our resort. We walked by the ocean and made our way to the waterpark and vibe city family-friendly area. Fun!
At 3pm I went back to see if our room was ready and it was! I excitedly headed down with the bellman to our room and then started unpacking.
This is where things went sideways ๐คช.
Our room had an issue and it took 3 calls to the front desk over an hour and a half for someone to come look at it.
Long story short, it took until 9pm to get into a different room. We were lugging our electronics around with us and missed dinner reservations because we were handling our room issue.
But you know what? While we were tired and mildly annoyed, the resort is sold out and things could be worse. Weโre happy to be in Mexico celebrating new years at a beautiful resort that weโre already talking about coming back to - itโs great!
As I sit here and write this at 10:15pm, my kids and husband are rocking out to a terrific Beatles cover band, weโre eating great sandwiches from the coffee shop, and plotting our day for tomorrow.
There is always a silver lining.
Enjoy the trip! Even if not everything is perfect, it beats staying at home in the cold! ๐ฅถ

Weather is unpredictable on vacation. It can be gorgeous and ๐ one minute, and then โ๏ธ.
When planning a tropical vacation, if there are activities important to your trip that involve the outdoors and good weather, try to plan them for the beginning of your stay.
For example, the waterpark is very important to my kids so we made sure to go first when we arrived at Hard Rock Riviera Maya today. This way if the weather stays nasty for the next few days, we were able to at least enjoy the waterpark for an afternoon.

Good morning! Itโs our final full day here at Xcaret Mexico and we have just been having the best time!
I have so much to share with you when Iโm back in the US. This resort is known for its access to adventure parks, and we took full advantage of that access, visiting each of the adventure parks at least once. The resort provides transportation to all the parks, so we didnโt have to worry about anything while we were here.
We took full advantage of the photo package add-on, (I highly recommend purchasing photo packages so you donโt have to carry your phone everywhere) and they do a really nice job of having different photo spots sprinkled throughout the parks to catch some of those amazing shots of you, your friends and your family! We have over 400 pictures to look at just from those photo areas. We even had a photographer with our small group cenote tour and those photos are incredible. I canโt wait to share them with you once Iโve had time to go through all of them!
