This morning I had members of the Vocal Revolution Barbershop A Cappella Chorus from the Boston area on my tour.
They are here in Cleveland for the Barbershop Harmony Society 2024 International Convention.
I asked if they could do a little number for me and they were nice enough to indulge with "Here Comes the Sun".
Best of luck to them and all the singers in town this week!

Vacation on the Rock Boxes
I caught the Go-Go's playing on the Rock Boxes in downtown the other day. I had to jump in and sing along to "Vacation".
The Rock Boxes run up E. 9th and play music of artists who have been inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They are done by Mark Reigelman II.

A wonderful hidden gem in the Cleveland area is the Museum of Divine Statues. I had the pleasure of visiting this past weekend. The museum is a collection of artwork from area Catholic churches that have since closed. The collection includes statues, stained glass, mosaics, relics and wood carvings. Some pieces date as far back as 1855.
The Museum of Divine Statues also works to restore these beautiful works of art. The museum is in what was St. Hedwig Church in Lakewood. It opened in 2011. It is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays and available for group tours during the week. Check out their website to learn more.

Last week went to visit the USS Cod, a submarine that you can tour right here in downtown Cleveland on Lake Erie. The U.S.S. Cod served in WWII, specifically in the South Pacific. The submarine was commissioned on June 21, 1943. It is a diesel-electric powered submarine with its five diesel generators built in Cleveland by General Motors.
On July 8, 1945 the U.S.S. Cod came to the aid of the Dutch submarine O-19 which had run aground in enemy territory. After two days of trying to tow the sub off the reef, they realized the only option was to transfer the crew of 55 men from the O-19 to the American submarine. For three days the U.S.S. Cod was home to 152 men. This is the only international sub-to-sub rescue in history! The martini glass on the conning tower represents the rescue.
In 1976 the sub was turned over to civilians who set up a fund to convert the sub into a memorial. Today you can tour the sub from May - September each year. It is between the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the International Women's Air & Space Museum along the lake shore.
