🏰 It’s crazy to think that the first time I visited Walt Disney World was during its 25th anniversary celebration, and in a few short months I’ll be going for its 50th. I mean - how have 25 years just come and gone like that? After all, I’m still only 22... 👀

🚝 Anyway, since my first trip, I’ve had an insatiable urge to keep returning and learning as much as I could about the parks and resorts. For a 7-year-old who got to experience her first flight, monorail ride, and cheese Danish because of that 1997 vacation, Walt Disney World gave me the feeling that all things - even things I hadn’t even imagined yet - were possible, and that I could get a taste of it all right there within those 42.47 square miles in central Florida.

🌑 Though I’ll admit, there was a time in my life when I felt I needed to “tone it down” a bit with the Disney stuff. (In fact, it wasn’t until recently that I decided to fully embrace my love and deep interest in Disney travel.) But even during those “dark” years, I would have leapt at the opportunity to hop on the next flight to Orlando for another week of that inexplicably giddy feeling you just can’t get anywhere else on Earth.

✨ In the 25 years that have passed since that inaugural trip, I’ve earned a degree from the alma mater of Walt himself, lived on three different continents, and started my own business. What were once “What ifs…?” in a 7-year-old kid’s head eventually became reality. As Disney Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald wrote for Horizons, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”

🎆 So I suppose I can credit WDW for igniting that spark that has lasted these past 25 years. Now I wonder where that spark will take me by the 75th anniversary.
