Ohio Adoptee Searches: News and Views on Ohio Adoptee Rights, Search, and Support is written and maintained by OAS associate Marley Greiner Marley is the co-founder and executive chair of Bastard Nation: The Adoptee Rights Organization, the largest adoptee civil rights organization in North America. BN was behind the historic Ballot Measure 58 in Oregon (1998) and legislation in Alabama (2000), both of which restored the right of those states' adoptees, to access, their original birth certificates without restriction. BN worked closely with activists in New Hampshire and Rhode Island who successfully unsealed all OBCs in and 2004 and 2011. The OAS blog will publish information on OBC access legislation (and related issues) in Ohio and how you can help; adoption related Ohio news; support information, and updates from Ohio Adoptee Searches. The last bill to restore our rights in Ohio was introduced in 2008 and died in the House Health Committee that same year. Mayoral candidate Joe Motil and long-time advocate for the homeless Rev. Gary Witte are arrested for trespassing at the home of Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin. He wants to add the $16,000 cost of the box and the $300/year maintenance fee....
