A total of 630 deer licenses left over from the 2024-2025 big-game draw will go on sale at 10 a.m. MDT June 26, through the Department’s Online License System. This first-come, first-served sale will only be open to New Mexico residents during the first 24 hours. If any licenses remain after the first 24 hours, the sale will be opened to nonresidents at 10 a.m. June 27.

Important note for youth hunters: Because these are draw licenses, purchasing a license will render youth hunters ineligible to purchase a youth encouragement elk license for the first 14 days of the upcoming sale in July.

To buy a leftover license, hunters must possess a 2024-2025 Game Hunting or Game Hunting and Fishing license. Hunters may buy the Game Hunting license, the Habitat Stamp and the Habitat Management Access Validation by logging into their account and clicking the Over-The-Counter (OTC) Licenses, Permits and Stamps link under License Sales 2024. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to purchase the Game Hunting and Fishing License and other stamps in advance of the application opening date and time. Applicants are further recommended to log in earlier for the best chance to get a leftover license.

To view the list of available licenses, visit our website at https://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/leftover-draw-licenses-on-sale-june-26/

Take a picture, it’ll last longer!

While you’re in a park, take great pictures and protect the things you come to enjoy, as well as yourself and other photographers, by following these simple rules:

📸 Oh, snap! Zoom with your lens, not your feet.

📸 Stay on designated trails and walkways.

📸 Park in roadside pullouts to snap a pic.

📸 Felt cute, might be in pain later. Selfie goals should not include 2500 pound wild animals.

End of the Trail
If you hike to the end of the Los Conchas Trail in the Jemez Mountains. A very easy 4 mile out and back. You can take a break, picnic or whatever at this tranquil little spot. Too shallow to be a swimming hole, beautiful none the less.
One of my first attempts at long exposure. I feel the need to return to this spot and do a better job technically. We grow through our mistakes. In the meantime I will share this image that I very much enjoy. Absolutely nothing wrong with always striving for improvement. As long as the inner dialogue is constructive. I will be heading out today to capture some late spring blooms. Enjoy your day all.
