"𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁

Late last week, DFW experienced two days with wind gusts of up to 50 mph, creating crosswind limitations that reduced arrival capacity by more than half. As a result, several runways were closed, which drove a large number of cancellations at our largest hub.

With additional weather throughout the system, our staffing becomes limited as crew members’ regular flight schedules are disrupted.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲

To ensure we’re taking care of our customers and providing scheduling certainty for our crews, we adjusted our operation by proactively canceling some flights to minimize any inconvenience as much as possible. Most of the customers impacted by these changes are being rebooked the same day.

We anticipate this period of irregular operations will be brief, with considerable improvement beginning today, and we will continue to staff up across our entire operation.

Nearly 1,800 flight attendants are returning from leave starting today, and the remainder of those who are on leave are coming back by December 1; we’ll also have 600+ new flight attendants on staff by end of December.

Additionally, we anticipate 4,000 new team members will join us across the system in the fourth quarter. American is continuing to hire additional pilots and team members in Technical Operations, which includes our maintenance team, and we’ve hired hundreds of Reservations agents over the last several months – so more team members are in place as we head into the holiday season.

Some of our customers have asked if the impact on our schedule is due to employment changes over the vaccine mandate or other circumstances beyond weather and the resulting changes to crew schedules. The vast majority of our team is already vaccinated, and you can rest assured our team is eager to take care of you and your travelers. We believe this weekend’s cancellations are isolated and expect to see considerable improvement today and onward."

We finally have some more details on this much anticipated hotel experience at Disney World!

Opening Day will be March 1, 2022 and they will start taking bookings on October 28, 2021 (this month)!

For this hotel, there is a 2 night minimum AND maximum...so you can only stay for 2 nights and you must stay for 2 nights.

This hotel is completely "immersive" - therefore, if you plan to stay and enjoy the rest of WDW after this hotel, you'll want a plan for where and how long to stay after the Starcruiser.
