We want to take a moment to celebrate someone truly special to the Globe Aware family: Mammee, one of our earliest coordinators in Thailand. Since 2001, she has led countless volunteer projects, touching the lives of so many.

Though Catholic, she worked hand in hand with Thai Buddhist monks, embodying grace and strength in every way. Her kindness and leadership were admired by all, including the last universally beloved King Rama IX of Thailand.

As time has passed, Mammee’s health has begun to decline, and her family has shared this news with us. We’d love to offer her the gift of your thoughts and memories. If you have a message, story, or photo to share about your time with her, we invite you to share your thoughts, whether in the comments or through a private message, which we’ll pass along to her family. Your words will remind her of the profound impact she has had on so many lives.

Barbara Meets Fuster in Havana's Fusterlandia!

Another project involved volunteer Barbara assisting with the refurbishment of a charming older house in the Fusterlandia neighborhood. She was fortunate enough to meet its creator, José Fuster! The Cuban artist transformed Fusterlandia, a lively neighborhood in Havana, into an outdoor art gallery. The buildings and streets are covered in colorful mosaics and murals, giving the area a whimsical vibe. What an incredible experience, Barbara must have felt like she was part of the mosaic, adding her touch to the vibrant story of the neighborhood!
