Welcome to the page for the Black Claw, dual, contact, point, Hands Free Bow Holder (Patent Pending). The design for the Black Claw, hands free bow holder came about after repeatedly being pinned down by deer bedding close to my deer stands. I tend to bowhunt near bedding areas in thick cover and reaching for a bow on a hanger created more motion and noise than I cared for. Also, having d
eer hold up just out of range (but still close enough to spot the movement related to reaching for my bow) as well as hunting in the frozen Tundra of Wisconsin was the inspiration for this product because up until now, holding your bow in the ready position for long periods of time or leaving it on a hanger were the only viable options for bowhunters. Early belt or thigh mounted bow holsters came about because of the need of a bowhunter to support the weight of their bow in the ready position but those early designs fell short because the design required the user to continue to hold their bow with one hand. While the early holsters reduced some of the weight, stress and strain on joints, they didn’t go far enough. That’s where the Black Claw hands free bow holder refines the concept by adding a 2nd point of contact with your bow that allows either hands free or minimally supported contact with one hand based on your needs. The old school, belt mounted holsters worked well for older model bows that had vertical limbs and round wheels but with todays' oversized cams and parallel limbs, The belt mounted holsters come up short. The Black Claw, Hands Free Bow Holder utilizes dual attachment points allowing for truly "Hands Free" use. The unique design takes the weight and stress off the user's arm and shoulder and transfers that weight to the larger muscle groups of the back, lower abdomen and neck allowing a hunter to "wear" their bow in the ready position for prolonged periods of time without the noise, motion and muscle strain while using existing holsters or having to reach of their bow on a nearby hanger. Holding a bow and arrow at the ready just prior to attempting a shot on game is not usually a problem unless you are holding that weight for a prolonged period of time. It’s been my experience that after only a few minutes of supporting the bow, a hunter tends to fidgets and shift their stance to accommodate the discomfort in the elbow, bicep and shoulder. That’s why most bowhunters keep their bow on a nearby hanger but you can’t shoot your bow from a hanger and you only need to be caught off guard once by a deer that appeared out of nowhere to appreciate just how much noise and motion is required to reach for your bow when a deer is only yards away. The Black Claw, Hands free bow holder was designed to solve that problem by taking the weight and strain off your arm and allow you to essentially wear your bow in a natural position just prior to the draw cycle. The Black Claw, hands free bow holder is adjustable allowing it to be used by any sized hunter and any size bow by simply positioning the lower and upper attachment points where they work best for your style of hunting and it works in both the standing or seated position. Likewise, it allows bowhunters in cold weather to have their bow at the ready without one hand exposed to the elements or having to continually switch hands while to taking turns warming the other hand. I think you will agree that the Black Claw, hands free bow holder is a bowhunter’s companion that you won’t want to be without and at only 2 Oz., you can enjoy the benefits of a third hand without being weighed down.
