Scenes around Dachau Concentration Camp:

We read a story while visiting the camp about "games" some of the guards would play.

Around the camp is a ditch that is forbidden for any of the prisoners to go near. If prisoners went near the ditch, that is around the surrounding outside wall of the camp, they were immediately shot.

At times the guards would grab the hat off prisoners and throw it in the ditch and then tell the prisoners to go get their hat. The prisoners, of course, would not want to go retrieve their hat for they knew they would be shot. However, if the prisoners did not go retrieve their hat the guards would beat them until they went after their hats. While trying to pick up their hat the prisoners would be shot and killed. Their deaths would be chalked up to a prisoner trying to escape.

Many emotions for us as we spent hours touring the N**i Concentration Camp Dachau.

The inscription on the gate falsely reads "Work brings freedom".

Dachau was built to hold 6000 individuals, however had over 30,000.

41,500 prisoners died here.

We spent the day in Amsterdam: Canals, Everything Cannabis, Museum Our Lord in the Attic (The Catholic Church was built on the top three floors of the canal house during the 1660s. It is an important example of a "schuilkerk", or "clandestine church" in which Catholics and other religious dissenters from the seventeenth century Dutch Reformed Church, unable to worship in public, held services), Anne Franks house, and of course bikes, bikes and more bikes.

Day 6 - Iceland, Paris, France, Brussels, Belgium and Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Travel day, train from Paris to Brussels, a short hour and half ride.

Visited The Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula from early 16th century.

From there visited the iconic urinating fountains - Jeanneke P*s, is the female version which was intended to form a counterpoint to the city's Manneken P*s, male version.

Our AirBnb is one block away from the famous Grand Palace square. Parts of the square, voted one of the most beautiful in Europe, date back to the 11th century. This time of year the square is especially amazing with the Christmas decorations, lights and music show.

Of course, we ate some of the local specialties, waffles and fries! Tim Gaynor

DAY 1 - Iceland, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam:

Tip Of The Day: Use Icelandair when flying to Europe to take advantage of a layover in Reykjavík, Iceland for no additional charge.

We landed just after 7 a.m., grabbed some coffee then headed to the Blue Lagoon via Reykjavik Excursions. The Blue Lagoon is about 20 minutes from the airport. This time of year the sunrises about 10:30 a.m. so we had the incredible experience of watching the sun come up while in the lagoon.

Due to heavy clouds our Northern Lights tour was canceled.

We spent the remainig part of the day resting and walking around town.
