I believe now, more than ever before, there is a great need for creating community across the globe through spreading love and kindness into this world and that's exactly what I intend to do. This journey started in 2014 right after one of my life's most pivotal moments. I had taken a trip to the Caribbean and instantly decided ten days wasn't enough. I devised a game plan to return to the corpora
te grind, save, go on holiday, repeat. But as the story usually goes, my sporadic getaways weren't cutting it. I wanted to see more and more. And then a little more on top of that. Naturally, I decided to resign from a company I had a very promising future with to backpack through Europe for two months. Is Europe ever not the answer? I contemplated leaving my dusty DSLR behind to minimize the weight on my back. Quickly realizing I'd likely regret that decision, I packed it with the intention of documenting parts of my travels to share with friends and family. My first day overseas I pulled my camera out and within minutes, my ten-year absence from photography felt like no time had passed at all. Don't get me wrong... my pictures were mediocre at best and I could barely pass for a photographic hobbyist. However the fundamentals were still with me and so was the happiness I felt every time I pushed the shutter. I wasn't even in Europe one full day before deciding it was time to start planning my escape from the ordinary 9-5 routine and pursue the unconventional. To say this past year has been a whirlwind would be an understatement. I returned from my travels with a new game plan: get a job to fund my next extended trip (this time to Southeast Asia), take mini-adventures throughout the year to keep sane, and invest in my own photography business. It's been exhilarating, overwhelming, humbling, and (at times) terrifying, but I wouldn't change it for a second. The last two years of travel have taught me more about the world and myself than all my years of school combined. There's never a dull moment and every day my perspective shifts slightly. The people I've encountered throughout this short journey alone is what keeps me coming back for more. There's a whole world out there to see, people to meet, and lessons to learn and it's my goal to share these experiences with the beautiful people I have met (and have yet to meet!) along the way. So that brings us to today. Josie Goes was created to spark and grow your travel curiosities. You'll be shown foreign cultures, learn about people from all walks of life, and see photos that will inspire you to delve deeper into the world of travel. Finally, and arguably the most important aspect of Josie Goes, you'll become part of a community that genuinely wants to make this world a better place by better understanding the fascinating and incredible cultures that make up this wildly beautiful world we live in. In response to the ever-increasing presence of electronics, it's imperative to remember the importance of connectivity to our earth and communication with the people on it. My goal here is to connect people from all over world, enriching one another through stories and photographs. I want to create a community that will work proactively to cultivate a world in which we're all proud to live. Thank you for visiting Josie Goes! Let's go!
