The City of Dripping Springs is set to twinkle with creativity as it launches Stars of Dripping Springs, a city-wide art initiative featuring captivating star sculptures. Organized by the City of Dripping Springs, Destination Dripping Springs, Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce, and the Dripping Springs Art League, this project will be a vibrant public art project that invites local artists to illuminate Mercer Street to highlight the City’s Dark Sky community.

This project will be ongoing, starting with a series of stars to be unveiled in the fall along Mercer Street. In the future, residents and visitors can look forward to discovering these creative star sculptures in unexpected places, from shopping areas to the City’s beautiful parks and more throughout the City and ETJ. Each star will tell a unique story, reflecting themes tying into the night sky and the beauty of the Hill Country.

This weekend is Founders Day and we're excited!🍿🎡🎢Thousands of people will gather in Dripping Springs’ historic downtown district on April 26-28, 2024, for a festive celebration of heritage and pioneer spirit.
The three-day celebration kicks off with the Grand Parade and includes free music and entertainment, the Mighty Thomas Carnival, food, beer, street dances, cook-off competitions, over 150 arts and crafts booths and business vendors.
The Annual Founders Day Festival honors and celebrates the founding of the Dripping Springs community in 1850 by the Moss, Wallace, and Pound families. The three-day jubilee promotes cooperation and volunteerism in the community and generates community spirit and recreation.

Artists interested in creating a star will need to join the Dripping Springs Art League and submit their proposals by May 24. Selected artists will have the opportunity to design artwork for a permanent 3D star within the following categories: Night Sky; Nature/Wildlife/Birding; Music/Film Friendly Community; General Dripping Springs; and Texas Culture/History. The newly formed Dripping Springs Art League strives to serve as the art community hub for the Dripping Springs area art scene and to help promote awareness as a vibrant and inspiring Hill Country Art Destination.

The eclipse has come and gone and the sunBLOCK Party was a blast!🌓😎 Thank you to all who visited and traveled from far and wide to view this special occurrence!

Join us at the sunBLOCK Party on Mercer Street today from 10am-6pm. The sunBLOCK event is designed to give you a safe place to share the moment with others in our community. We created this viewing space because we know that watching an eclipse with others can help transform a solitary observation into a communal celebration under our beautiful Dripping Springs sky.

To help add to the experience, you'll listen to some live music from area students and musicians — all eclipse themed music —making it a true community watching experience. The music is being provided by Tommy Mojica and his students and friends and our way of helping him share his vision for the Dripping Springs Music School, designed to help underprivileged children connect with and learn music. There will be amazing giveaways throughout the day.

We'll have close to 20 craft and educational vendors, along with Mercer Street businesses and food vendors. We'll be selling official City of Dripping Springs Eclipse shirts, commemorative posters, glasses, hats and more while supplies last! (All proceeds cover the cost of the event.) Come early because we'll sell out! Cell service might be iffy so bring cash in case you can't use your phone or bank cards.🌞🌙 And it doesn't matter if it's cloudy! The sun is forecasted to peak out at times and it will still get dark (darker actually!) and we'll still have an amazing experience with this shared sense of wonder and awe.

In a world often filled with division, the sunBLOCK Party will offer Dripping an opportunity to come together in appreciation of something greater than ourselves! All for free!
