Be sure to book your lodging for the DNR’s “Free Fishing Weekend” in February! Two days this winter when families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan's premiere outdoor activities, Michigan Ice Fishing, for FREE!

The 2025 Free Fishing Weekend scheduled for this winter is : February 15th & 16th

All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. A Recreation Passport will NOT be required for entry into state parks and recreation areas during Free Fishing Weekend. Residents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes' waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply.

Snowmobile Trail Report – February 5, 2025

Current Conditions:
Trails are in fair/good condition, with thick snow coverage in some areas. However, riders should use caution, as certain sections remain bumpy and uneven due to recent use and lack of snow. Grooming efforts are ongoing, but some trails may still have rough patches.

Trail Highlights:
✔ Snow depth remains sufficient in some locations for riding.
✔ Trails are groomed but may still be rough—expect bumps in high-traffic areas.
✔ Icy spots and exposed terrain are possible.

Rider Safety Tips:
⚠ Slow down in bumpy areas to avoid losing control.
⚠ Stay on marked trails and respect closures for maintenance.
⚠ Check with local trail reports for the latest grooming updates.
⚠ Ride with a buddy and carry a fully charged phone in case of emergencies.

Stay safe, and enjoy the ride! Hopefully, trail conditions will continue to improve after this next snowfall!
