STORM TIPS
Here are ten storm safety tips to follow:

1) Finish your preparedness activities early on Monday and stay informed by monitoring the storm media.

2) Have a well-stocked Family Disaster Kit in the event you lose power or are isolated for a number of days. Here's a link to a MEMA suggested list of items: http://www.mass.gov/eopss/agencies/mema/ready-massachusetts/emergency-kit.html

3) Plan to stay safely indoors throughout the course of the storm, beginning Monday later afternoon night and through Wednesday morning

4) Elevate articles in your basement that could be damaged from even minor flooding.

5) Clear clogged rain gutters outside. Providing clear drainage will help prevent misdirected flooding.

6) Ensure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors have fresh batteries and are operable.

7) Expect that we will lose power and charge up your cell phones. Check and report power outages using links above.

8) If you use a generator, be sure to operate it outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Be sure to shut off your main power supply to your home when running your generator.

9) Keep your vehicles fully fueled.

10) Assume any wire that is down to be a "live" electrical wire, don't go near it but rather report it

Update on last day of school from Dr. Ben Tantillo, Superintendent of Schools:
-In looking at the close of school this year, it is unlike any other. The winter was long and difficult. We will soon close two schools and move to the new building, requiring a great deal of physical work and preparation under very tight time frames.

As a result, we are modifying the schedule for the last day of school and moving it back one day to Wednesday, June 18. Since we made up a full-day in lieu of a snowed-out half-day, we meet the required hours and days in the school calendar. This will be a half-day for students as is typical each year.

We thank you for your support.

Dr. Benedict Tantillo III
Superintendent of Schools
