Experience the heroic tale of the Waldenses during the 54th consecutive season of From This Day Forward - outdoor drama at the Fred B Cranford Amphitheatre 401 Church Street NW | Valdese, NC.

July 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 and August 5, 6, 12 & 13 - 8:00 PM

This season chronicles the struggles of the Waldensian people as they seek religious and civil freedom in their homeland in the Cottian Alps and their subsequent move to the United States and the founding of our beautiful town of Valdese. It is a show that is filled with hope and faith, but also acknowledges the struggles and violence that the Waldenses as a persecuted people experienced. For this reason, this production is not recommended for children under 10 and cautions parents of young children to prepare for the themes of religious persecution inherent in the show. Loud simulated gunfire and battle scenes will be portrayed in our production.

In May, two artists from the group Preserving a Picturesque America set out on a 80 mile journey along the French Broad River to recreate some of the original artwork from the first Picturesque America publication in the 19th century. Now, that artwork is going on display.

The organization’s Fall Art Show will be hosted by the Wedge at Foundation’s Cloud Room in Asheville’s River Arts District from September 16 through October 27. There will be three separate collections, each on display for two weeks. Chimney Rock is featured in the first collection, on display until September 29. More than 30 artists from western North Carolina helped create the artwork that will be displayed at the show. Some of the proceeds from the show will be donated to the organizations preserving the natural locations where the artwork was done.

A portion of the proceeds from “Chimney Rock,” a watercolor painting by Sandra Moore (pictured below), will directly benefit the Friends of Chimney Rock State Park. You can find more information about Preserving a Picturesque America and their exhibition here. http://ow.ly/rSSC50G3bRA
