Unexpected twist, flight cancelation. Turned into true cross country road trip. Loved every minute of it! (After the wrench in our plans, of course. Remained flexible and turned out to be so much fun.)

Creating core memories with my family! I had so much fun planning this trip. With Microsoft issue causing chaos at airports, flight was canceled and had to redo the whole first part of the trip. Turned into a road trip and one of the most memorable trips we've been on so far.

If staying at the resort is a little out of your budget. You can stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites directly across from the casino. My parents stayed there this trip and said it was very nice, clean, and had a really good complimentary breakfast. And you can walk across to the casino.

We came for a gymnastics competition but did a little exploring. We love getting out in nature and seeing different things. Cherokee did not disappoint. Road up in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, seen some beautiful scenery, played in the snow and close elk encounter. Oconafultee River Trail offers a trail that you can walk right by elk grazing in the field! And see an old farm, which the kids thought was pretty cool.

Eventful weekend in Atlanta with tons of food and drinks! And the main attraction.... Harry Potter Exhibition! If you're a Potterhead you have to catch this exhibition before it's gone!

My favorite part... seeing everyone else at the Harry Potter Exhibition smiling as much as I was.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo Downtown Atlanta. Very nice hotel and bar.

You must try Amalfi (Italian food/Downtown), Bulla Gastrobar (tapas style food/Midtown), and Cafe Intermezzo (European/Midtown) has amazing cake and cheesecake!

If you want to step back in time, dress in your best 20s outfit or cocktail attire, and go find the Red Phone Booth. But you better have the correct code or you'll be left out in the cold. Literally we saw the bouncer have someone leave because he didn't have the secret code for entry. Poor guy. We were way underdressed but the bouncer was nice enough to let us in being we had the code. Although.... he did put us in the back room.?.?. Whatever. We had fun playing pool while sipping on our drinks.

Overall... Girls trip was a success!

Red fish, blue fish 🐟 🐠
One fish, Toad fish???

Spent the weekend in Hilton Head, SC.
Stayed at wonderful Marriot Hilton Head Resort and Spa, located directly on the beach. Thank goodness they had heated indoor pool to kids occupied being it was too cold outside to go to the outdoor pool or lay on the beach. Our room was spacious and clean with balcony to look out at the ocean.

Ate at some great restaurants this weekend.
The Old Oyster Factory reminded me of modern farm house on the inside or a really nice viking hall, lol. Although I've been a little obsessed with The Last Kingdom show. We had the oysters, Cajun Seafood Pasta (which was delicious), and a marscapone souffle and chocolate mousse mix drizzled in raspberry sauce (recommended by the waiter). 😋 Yummy! My son ate the gumbo and was asking for seconds. A big part of eating somewhere is service, I don't care how good your food is if you have terrible service. The servers kept the table cleaned off and drinks filled without being asked.

We went on 4-hr fishing excursion with 🎣 Tail Tamer Fishing 🐡. Our guide Craig was great. We weren't hitting on too terribly much so he took us to a different spot and finally started getting some bites, and let us stay out an extra hour because the fish didn't start biting until late. (And we were his last excursion for the day.) We caught red fish, seabass, blue fish, 2 toad fish (ugly little things), 24 inch and 20 inch black drum, and rock bass. He then fileted our 2 black drum fish we kept and suggested taking it to Hudson's, where they cooked it however we wanted it. We got some fried, blackened, and grilled, chose our sides and that was it. IT WAS SO GOOD! I also tried their she crab soup. I've never had it before and let me tell you! It was mouthwatering. Drink suggestion... Painkiller. Hudson's overall had great service with a smile and had a very homey feel to the place!

And the last stop before we came home was Charbar Co. Burgers and Sushi. They had multiple options of new combinations of flavors and things to try. And just love the idea of a good burger and getting to try some sushi too!
