Fall in Montana means corn mazes, crisp leaves, pumpkin everything, vats of chili, hot cider, football, and of course, hunting season.

What's your favorite thing about fall?

In the small town of Edgar, the lone bar and restaurant is no longer the only thing driving people to the community.

We wish you a fun and safe Independence Day with family, or friends who've become family.

While it's hard to choose favorites, the Montana Candy Emporium might just be the best candy store in Montana.

2022 was one wild ride. As I pulled together these photos to make this collage I realized that there's no way to capture the epic highs and lows of this year in 13 photos.
The first 5 months of the year was a race to the finish as two divorced co-parents turned contractor/client navigated the demands of our separate lives while trying to get the house completed and furnished before the first guests were set to arrive; but we somehow did it!

Nine days later the river flooded like it had never flooded before, an entire valley devastated by water; homes ruined, livestock and crops lost, fences washed out, but I saw the community come together to help their neighbors and friends like I'd never seen before.

Two months later we welcomed guests back to the little house on the river and it's been steady ever since, and for that I'm so grateful.

We can't wait to see what the coming year brings and how many new people we get to share our little slice of Montana with.

From all of us, Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving is a day where we reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. This last year has had many losses, but today I only see the wins.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours.

There have been some big things happening.

First, there are only three weekends still available to be booked until the end of the year and two are holiday weekends (Thanksgiving and New Year's) so they will fill up or you'll see me at the for NYE.

Secondly, we got the siding mostly completed. Next: gutters and paint, but this was a huge relief.

By far the best part of sharing this place is the people I'm getting to know along the way.
Some of my most recent guests left me a present! Their daughter and her husband make the coolest looking soap I've ever seen. The rose gold literally has gold flakes in it. 😮

I'm a bit overwhelmed! I honestly did not think that we would have this much interest in the house from people that I didn't personally know and didn't know that we are still recovering from a flood.

The uncertainty of not knowing what we'd be able to fix in time has caused me so much stress that I've made the decision to snooze the official AirBnB listing until we have a better understanding of how and when we'll be able to get some things outside sorted out.

It is still available for bookings but I need to, at the very least, have real conversations with interested parties so that they know exactly what to expect.

As excited as I am to offer it to the public, the public scares me. 😉

If you or someone you know, would like to book it, please message me on this page, my personal FB page, or at 406-272-2413.

Thank you for your grace and patience as we navigate these unexpected circumstances.

-Amanda. ❤️

What a difference a year makes!
These last couple months have been trying; trying to reconcile being incredibly grateful for what the flood waters did not ruin, with also feeling that it's really not fair to have to replace (expensive) things that were weeks and months old.
So much work to do still, but look what a difference a year makes. 😉

Wishing everyone a happy and safe Independence Day!!

We were able to go in and check on the main floor and no water was able to get inside, so for that I am so incredibly grateful.
The basement still had about 4 feet of ground water in it and a sump is running constantly but probably futile until the water goes much further below flood stage.
It's only the furnace and water systems that were in the basement and the air conditioner outside that may need to be replaced.
This shed is not supposed to be there and unfortunately had all the buckets of finish for the siding in it and also the shake siding for the backside of the house a well. I hope that the breakaway of the shed was not forceful so the lids stayed on the buckets. 🤞🏼 There will be a whole lot of cleanup to the grounds. A lot of fences and corrals to be rebuilt but until the flooding is much lower I'll be in Fromberg this weekend helping those affected.
