I signed my deal with Echo Fly Rods and one of the first rods I bought, for me, was the 5-weight Bad Ass Glass. This rod is pure joy to cast. Sure, it's a little slower, but you can feel it load, it forces you to slow down, and it will make you a better caster. After receiving it, I finally got to put it to the test on the water. Here's a little redfish and largemouth bass fishing with it. Warning: this video may make you want to buy one!

I enjoy most fly rods. However, very few bring me the pure joy of the Echo Bad Ass Glass fly rod. This rod takes me back in time, to when I was a kid casting...

A little redfish action on the long rod. It's always a blast when you're sight fishing redfish, but it requires a little more patience when doing it on the fly rod. Look how beautiful the water is! Still some open dates for December, so book a trip! 386-314-5998 or [email protected]

People think Florida is all about saltwater fishing. Sure, we have a ton of saltwater fishing all around the state. But we also have some of the finest freshwater fishing you can find in the world. Bass, crappie, panfish, catfish, shad, exotics and more can be found throughout the state. The St John's River, aka The River of Grass, is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places to enjoy a day on the water. Add into that millions of ponds, ditches and lakes, and there is usually some freshwater action within walking distance of you. Our simple rule of thumb: if it's water and has been there for at least a couple of years, there's gonna be fish in it.

While the majority of posts I make revolve around fishing, I also hunt and will be reviewing items for hunting, along with fishing. I decided to review some broadheads and the results may shock you. Check it out and I hope you can use this information to your advantage! More reviews coming soon.

In this video I review two different broadheads for archery. One is a name brand that I picked up at a major store; these shall remain nameless to avoid any ...

OK followers and friends, I decided to delve into a little experiment this week. Trying economic times have led a lot of people to either start shopping for more price friendly gear, or they've had to start fishing and hunting less. I decided to use my decades of fishing and guiding experience to test out some of this "cheap" gear. I want to put these items to the test and see if they are worth your hard earned money and valuable time. First and foremost, no one can pay me to review their products. As always, I will give you a straightforward honest opinion. Some of the test may shock you and some of the gear I know will, as it has me. How often will these be done? Well, that depends on my budget and their shipping. Sometimes when you order these things it can take quite a while to get to you.

The first review is a simple on for fly tiers or lure makers. It is some 3D Prismatic Dome Eyes. Check it out and let me know what you think. I am currently in possession of a couple of reels that I will be putting to the test. Those reviews will be coming soon.

In this video I give a review on some 3D stick on eyes that are available through Temu. These eyes (item ) are designed for fly tying or lure making....

Far too many people are spreading outright lies about Amendment Two. I fully support it and if you enjoy fishing or hunting, you should too. Don't believe the lies or let the simple writing of the Amendment confuse you; all Amendments should be straightforward like this one.

Why I support Amendment 2 in Florida's 2024 election. Don't believe the lies

One thing about Florida: you always need to pay attention when you are near the water. We may be second, only to Australia, on the things that will try to reduce the human population. So stay alert and stay safe.

A sample of how wild Florida can be and how you need to pay attention at all times. I was enjoying some tarpon fishing when a gator decided to crash the party.

Sunrise at the Boat Ramp Outdoor enthusiasts are usually the people that wake up before sunrise and start their day. Whether you are fishing or hunting, most of us like to get out early and enjoy that moment when the sun first starts to peek over the horizon. This time of the morning is almost magi

Too many fishing shows don't highlight the hard work that goes into successful days of fishing; especially on those hard days. What most people do not realize is most shows are shot over the course of several days and then edited down to the 22 mins (the actual length of the average 30 min show). Some days it is tough and you just have to work hard for success; but those days often make the greatest memories.

A lot of television shows and videos make catchinga redfish on fly look easy. Sure, some days it is. However, on most days, it takes a lot of hard teamwork. ...

A couple of questions for the followers of my page.
1) What type of videos/articles would you like to see?
2) What is the best video length you enjoy?
3) What's more important: length of the video/getting step-by-step video of the process?

I'm trying to make sure that I'm putting out the material people want.

Snook season is open! Time to target one of the feistiest fish out there, the Linesider. These ambush predators are known for their intelligence, their hard fighting abilities, and for the fact they can be some of the most frustrating fish to entice into strikes at certain times. Despite all of that, they are considered one of the best inshore species to hunt. One of the greatest things about them is the ability to target them at night, making for much cooler fishing conditions.

Professional Guided Outdoor Adventures

Welcome to Tailhunter Outdoor Adventures, where anglers from around the world come to join Captain John Tarr on the fabled Mosquito Lagoon. Located on the Space Coast of Florida, within easy driving from Orlando, Daytona Beach, and Cocoa Beach, the area offers superb fishing for many of Florida’s famous saltwater fish. Redfish, seatrout, snook, tarpon, black drum and more await you in one of the most visually spectacular areas Florida has to offer. This truly is the area where cutting edge, space technology unites with the wild, natural beauty of the Florida wetlands.

Mosquito Lagoon and the surrounding waters offer miles of shallow water, sight fishing opportunity. Here, in the company of Captain John Tarr, anglers will pit their skills against some of the wariest shallow water fish around. Sight fishing is a team effort where angler and guide mesh together to hunt down their quarry in the shallow, backwater flats along the space coast. Anglers are tested in their skills of casting, retrieval to entice a prey response, and ultimately fish fighting skills required to land some of the toughest fish on the planet. All of this action takes place while dolphins frolic, manatees cruise, eagles and osprey soar overhead, and crabs and shrimp dance in the tide.

Captain John Tarr has more than three decades of fishing experience in this location. He has been guiding anglers and sharing his passion for sight fishing for almost 20 of those 30 years. Captain John is a certified fly-casting instructor, published fly tier and author, and has guided hundreds of anglers to their angling dreams. Known for his patience and hard work ethic, Captain John has worked with novice anglers as well as some of the finest anglers in the world; either way, he does everything in his power to insure that you have a memorable time on the water and the best chance of successfully catching your dream fish.

Contact him now to book your angling adventure or to ask any questions you have. While you are here, spend a little time and look through the photo gallery or watch some videos; relax, kick back, and enjoy looking through the pages and reading about recent adventures.
