I usually post something each June to commemorate the anniversary of my tour business. It’s a little late this year, but I don’t want to let it be forgotten! As a very shy 25 year old, I coordinated with property owners, interviewed Edisto’s locals ( old and young, including my grandparents), found a passenger van and put together a dialogue. Oh how I wish I could go back in time and watch that girl, on that first tour! I have met so many people over the years, many of whom I’m still friends with, and said goodbye to many others.
Edisto has certainly changed a lot since that first tour, but I still have that passion for my home and strive to learn more to share with others!

Hello all! I’m wondering if anyone out there has any information about a potentially new business on Edisto working out of Dr. Borders office called Gullah/Geechie Tours? Do they use a van? Have access to private properties? I would love more information!

Does anyone remember these? The EIHPS used to sell calendars with lovely artwork, mostly Sheila Beardsley’s,in the late ‘80’s. I saved some and always intended to frame some. It’s still on my list!

Check out this hottie! This is my mom....Joyce Hills Lybrand. The photo was taken in 1955. She grew up across the highway from the Bailey Store and USPS. My grandparents, William Seabrook Hills and Helen McTeer Hills lived on the corner of Wescott Rd. and Hwy 174. My grandfather worked for the USPS for many years. They decided to replace their house in the 1970’s with a new home. A bunch of us gathered on the banks of Store Creek to watch the old house float away on a barge. A local family, also on Store Creek, acquired the house. My mom’s childhood home still exists today as the second story of a beautiful home.
I really enjoyed gathering old photos to make a poster board for Nana Joyce’s 80 th birthday back in October. More photos to come!
