The Pumpkin Island Light is one of the more scenic lighthouses you'll find in the Downeast region of the state. Established in 1854, Pumpkin Island Light marked the Eggemoggin Reach, a busy channel between the mainland and Deer Island. The station was closed in 1934 and sold, now serving as a private home. Though not open to the public, it can be viewed from the shores of Little Deer Isle or from the waters of the surrounding Penobscot Bay.

Saturday, April 27, 2024 is the start of the season!

Join us for a grand re-opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 10:30am, opening immediately after! Come celebrate with the 2024 team, the people who worked the last few months on this project, and our fellow community members!

This years team is on fire! 🔥 We have 5️⃣ returning team members and 5️⃣ new hires who have trained hard. Please be patient with us all, and if we make a mistake, let us know how we can make it right for you! 😊

We can’t give away all the secrets…but we’ve added fresh haddock, scallops, and whole belly clams to the menu, as well as so much more! 👏🏼

We aren’t finished with all the work yet! The outdoor eating area will be built soon. Some other fun surprises are on their way! Weekly dinner specials and ice cream specials will follow in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned - you don’t want to miss out on what’s to come! 🙌🏼

We have replaced the 2 twin beds in one of the bedrooms with a full-size bed! It's been a long time coming. We finally have at least 1 full bed in each cottage.

We had a big wind and rain storm on December 18th. It blew down a ton of trees. Thankfully none of them hit any cottages. It did completely flip over our canoe trailer though. Here are a few pictures.

Something I learned today. Rating stars on Airbnb are quite different than some other accommodation rating systems. Basically, 5 stars means everything was satisfactory - not necessarily excellent - such as, the listing description and pictures were accurate.

Here is the Airbnb Guest Rating Guide:
5-star: Nobody is perfect, but I enjoyed my stay!
4-star: There are several issues that need to be corrected.
3-star: There are major problems.
2-star: This listing should be removed.
1-star: Ban these hosts for life.
Airbnb penalizes hosts for getting less than 5-star reviews!

I thought this might be helpful for anyone that books with us through Airbnb, or anyone that uses Airbnb for staying anywhere really. Click the link for a better explanation!
