via Lisa Cox -- Photoshop class opportunity
Beginning February 12 at 2:00 PM, a new Photoshop class will begin with Steve McLaughlin teaching the class at LEAA on the square in Marion, IL. The class will run from 2 PM until 5 PM each Thursday, so on LEAA meeting days members will have 1 1/2 break for supper and relax a bit before the meeting begins. There will be eight sessions for this class.
The cost is $50. for LEAA members and for non LEAA members the cost is $75. The fees are being paid directly to LEAA. Steve is donating his time and experience to LEAA in the hopes of promoting membership, and good, clean fun.
Requirements: There are no requirements as far as experience goes and there are no requirements for equipment or software. If those that signup for the class have a laptop and Photoshop software, they are more than welcome to bring them, but if you don't, that is fine as well. The class will be by instructor demonstration and projected on a screen, and there will be videos available to the students online. This will enable the students to go over the lessons at their convenience from home any time during the day or night. I do encourage note taking. This class is going to me an intermediate class, so we will be starting with some basics and essential tools in Photoshop, and move into Layers and their uses, masking, filters, Photoshop workflow, utilizing Adobe Bridge, Camera RAW, file formats and their uses, managing file sizes, getting files ready to print, getting files ready for the web, file storage, properly sizing files while maintaining quality, getting the most out of photographs, and last but not least, photo restoration. You will NOT need the newest version of Photoshop to do the lessons for this course. If you have Photoshop CS6 or later, you should be just fine.
Steve has a BA in Photography from SIU's School of Mass Communications and Media Arts in Carbondale, Illinois, and did graduate Studies in Education from the College of Workforce Education and Development. He served as Director of Distance Learning at John A. Logan College and taught photography and Photoshop for sixteen years. In 2013 Steve received the Illinois Community College Trustees Association Outstanding Part-Time Faculty of the Year Award.
At the first class meeting Kris Killman will be there to accept your enrollment fees, so if you want to join the class, you need to be there the first night. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the class feel free to E-mail Steve at: [email protected]
